Removing Crosshairs
Well, I posted the suggestion of removing crosshairs over in the PoE forums, and just about everyone there (including PoE devs and testers) is against the idea. If it's something we'd like to see here (and I certainly hope it is), we'd have to mod it ourselves.
EDIT: Heh, sordavie, yeah, you've got it. Either it's getting late, or I'm getting old, or both.

Re: Removing Iron Sights
Removing crosshairs you mean?
[edit] I wonder why some of them are so against it. Especially the ones that say things like "worst idea ever."

Re: Removing Iron Sights
Well my personal opinion is that I would be happy to see higher deviations when iron sights are not used, but I would rather leave crosshairs or some mid-screen indicator in.
Peace through fear... since 1947!

Re: Removing Crosshairs
Some people get dizzy when a centralized focal point is removed. I really dont see it as much of an advantage because even if the crosshairs are removed people will learn to judge where their rifle is pointing without the crosshairs. I know I have progressively gotten better firing from the hip in tacmod without the crosshairs. Icky is right, that the true answer is to increase the deviation when not using the iron sights.

Re: Removing Crosshairs
I swear, people in this community are complete sadists. Do you want infantry to be completely ineffective? The game is already very vehicle oriented, let's not make infantry's life any more difficult.

Re: Removing Crosshairs
Ehhh, set your Crosshair Transparancy to 100% in the options and, poof, the crosshairs are gone. What's the big deal?

Re: Removing Crosshairs
Indeed.
Lots of players are bad shots as is. I for one fell frusted at as a grunt. This will only retard their (my) abilities more.
I know TG changed the bleed in vanillia and all (for the good IMO), but left the crosshairs around.
Perhaps a PoE Tac Mod is in order for such gameplay.
And remember, if u got rid of the cross for the guns, then doesn't the crosshairs for the staitionary AA go also? This will criple this weapon against the deadly air power.
I feel u bleak.(PO3) Marcinko_R. (BF2 PR .509) Squad Member

Re: Removing Crosshairs
If you read the thread over on the PoE forums, you'll note that I said "if players fire 'from the hip' (without using their iron sights), they'll shoot without any sort of accuracy." So with the change I have in mind, drawing a crosshair on the screen, or "memorizing" where a crosshair would be, would not compensate for their removal. Firing without using iron sights would be no more than spray & pray (as it should be, IMO).
Also, the point (as I indicated in the thread on the PoE forums) is not to remove the crosshairs for myself, but to make the change for all players on the server. The idea IS to make the game harder and to slow down its pace.
Further (again, as I indicated in the thread on the PoE forums), I'd like to see this for the small arms only.
I'd love to see a PoE:2 version of Tac Mod; hopefully it can become a reality at some point, so that those of us who are more sim-oriented will have yet another great gaming option at TG.
EDIT: And asch, thanks for changing this thread's title

Re: Removing Crosshairs
I am just looking out for the FNGs here. The compitition is already tuff enough as is.
I felt comfortable with no crosshairs with the rifles and such in the Tac Mod. In vanillia, i do not use iron sights in close to short range combat so this allowed me to shot from the hip better.
I never liked how the jeep 50 cals did not have crosshairs in Tac Mod, However, the tracers made things work out well. I do not know if the rifles can be focused on and the mounted guns left alone?
I think not having crosshairs will deminish new players from playing on the server.(PO3) Marcinko_R. (BF2 PR .509) Squad Member
