Brainstorms on PoE2 TG map changes
Greetings TG community.
This thread will help us lobby and make suggestions on changing the maps for our taste.
It may be a little too early for this, but here goes.
Battle of Sambir. Nothing needs to be changed as far as i know.
This is the large map with the 16 player jet mode.
Carpathian Mountains. This map is sound. This is the only heavy armor map without the mobile arty. It also does not have any choppers either.
Dnipro Sunrise. This map looks like it has everything. I think this map handles the large armor layout well.
Dnister River Valley. This map is a snow map were the North Iland is located. I believe the armor is o.k. here but one chopper should go per side. Checkpoint really does not have anything for them.
Fallen. All infantry, sound as a pound love.
First Snow. There is someting about this map i find fault in... but i can't find anything that needs to be changed.
Guardian. A lot like First Snow.
High Way to Hell. Do not have a lot of experience here, so pass.
Lutsk. Never have played this one. Attack defend map.
Orel. Has some light and heavy jeep trasnports. Good map, no change here.
Rivine. Big map. Can't say anything needs to change.
Rolling Thundeer. Looks ok. Could maybe 86 some armour.
Zhytomyr. I would like to see a significant reduction in armor on this map. So that the tanks stay funky fresh in other maps, let's 86 them here. There are still the APCs and all.
In conclusion, I think we need to 86 some armor in some of the smaller maps. Elimante a chopper from Dnister River Valley. And make Zhytomyr more of an infantry map.
P.S. I believe there are too many vehicles in the game, I would like to see a reduction in their numbers.(PO3) Marcinko_R. (BF2 PR .509) Squad Member

Re: Brainstorms on PoE2 TG map changes
Nice post, I agree with everything. I'd like to put an extra spotlight on the snow maps. I think they are by far the poorest maps, and least fun for groundpounders. No suggestions on what should be done, but there is a need to do something.
Ps Someone should take the time to forward some of these topics to the poe team. Otherwise all we'll get is more katanas and ufos etc.

I like all the maps. The only way to see what each map is capable of is to have a near full server with TG style players. Come tomorrow, we shall have a good idea of how every map works.

Re: Brainstorms on PoE2 TG map changes
I think the very reason for your disenchantment with those maps is embodied in the latter sentence. In my opinion:
attempting to play vehicle/air-heavy maps as if they were infantry-only maps will only lead to pain, suffering and anguish.
People, maps got armour and planes and AA guns and helos and whatnot for a reason. It's all about combining arms to achieve victory. Trying to slog it out on foot and then getting annoyed at "getting killed by planes/tanks/helos/arty/whatever" is just missing the point, I think. It should be a clear sign that different maps require different tactics and even strategies.
I'm just pointing this out because I sometimes see a tendency towards the idea that the "TG way of fighting" equals fighting ground-only or even infantry-only combat (might just be my imagination, though). When applying such a mindset to a game that has much more to offer than just groundpounder action, problems will arise. Making changes to the game might not be the best way of resolving things, in that case.
Just my 0.02 euro.

Good point. I do not know for sure how much armor there is on the snow maps so that almost everyone has a nice piece. I would need more time on those maps.
I am not trying to say that TG is more infantry, I know TG removes things from maps to make things more balanced.
I.e. the bombers in vanillia mostly.
the bleed mechanics in vanilla
elimainating gun ships on certain maps, that kind of stuff.
I will have to give Gurdian and First Snow some more game time.
In conclusion, someone has to cap a flag and defend it. This is my point of view i am coming from.
Being hit by loads of amor from outside your perimeter is somthing that happens a lot on PoE2. I am looking for something to slow the game down so that u can actually set up a defense instead of telling your squad to take cover. Seems like u never can start up a good defense cause their are always infatnry causalites that are vehicle related, that take place outside your perimeter at your CB. Last on Sunday nights 9-04-06 games I was on the Germans team, and this happened a lot to me, so I am influnzed from that.(PO3) Marcinko_R. (BF2 PR .509) Squad Member
