Re: time to end the love-fest.

I've noticed some flaws with the AT kit too. Basically the rockets don't move fast enough, tanks can dodge them at long ranges while still being able to effectively kill infantry.

The best solution I've found is, like Icky suggests, hiding in the grass but God help you if you screw that one up. The problem is that when you're defending a flag the tank already knows you're there. You can still hide mines in the grass but you don't get enough that the tank doesn't usually have the option of just going around.

Yeah they do seem to move terribly slow. I wonder if burble can comment on that having seem them IRL.

Re: time to end the love-fest.

I think it's good.. it's not about "you can't" or "I can't"... it requires TEAMWORK

It's about the balance between a SQUAD vs a tank or 2, not just 1 guy vs the tank. multple AT's to mine the area... a support to keep them stocked.. a medic or 2 to keep them up...

Re: time to end the love-fest.

I try to play medic, but when there are 5 enemy tanks dropping HEAP rounds (which have blast radiuses almost as big as the arty) onto your flag, it's tough to do much healing or reviving.

AT really needs a pistol.

Yes, on infantry-only maps, the anti-personnel munitions (Bunkerfaust/TBG-7V) are the default kit (called "Anti-personnel" instead of "Anti-tank" in the kit selection screen). On maps with armour, the Panzerfaust 3/RPG-7V are the default.

I haven't found or used all the pickups yet, but, depending on the map, they should be either the Bunkerfaust/Thermobaric munitions or the "enhanced" anti-tank ones. It seems logical that when the Bunkerfaust/TBG-7V are already the default weapon for the kit, they will not be available as a pickup (but not 100% sure about that).

If you stay hidden and control fire, the tank doesn't have to know you are there.

The best thing is a tank coming in, thinking nobody is defending. The worst thing is a tank moving in slowly while his infantry march in and make sure nobody is defending. Either way, the best defense is to maintain cover as long as possible.

He does have some good points. The rock paper scissors reasoning is what screwed up vanilla to begin with.
They should just have taken realistic damages for everything, then adjust the availability of particular vehicles or kits.

I do think the public BF2 servers have demonstrated for over a year that the r/p/s theme does NOTHING to promote teamplay. It just makes the rock want to stay far away from the paper as he rapes as many scissors as he can. Only on a TG only game does it promote teamwork, maybe.

-I agree with Barracuda magoo that the at needs a pistol. The at gun is total crap and can get you one kill at most in close combat. That is if you watch your bulletcount carefully. At simply cannot attack infantry unless with their rockets.

I know it's fun to shoot rockets and use rifles and tanks and stuff, but teamwork doesn't have to go out the window :/
Most poe maps do not suit medics when people die they either do it in armor or too far away, so you have no chance of reviving, and if you do you'll probably be shot by the same tank. In Poe, and especially on defense, don't hae more then one medic. Engineer on the other hand is the new medic.

the only thing i worked with was AT4's (well, javelin, too, but no live firing).

muzzle velocity is close to 1000fps. that's about as fast as a .45 round, a far cry from the lumbering rockets you see ingame.

wikipedia says a panzerfaust 3 is 165m per sec, or somewhere around 500fps. that seems more like ingame, as that accounts for two full seconds for a 3-400m prayer-shot.

Lies! I'm still primarily a medic. Had 100+ teamplay points monday night on the forest crash site map before getting disconnected from the server. Our squad had around 500 points but only like 50 combined deaths or something

I'm enjoying this mod a lot. The grass is awesome for hiding. My only complaint is that some of the maps seem too small/flags bunched together for 62 players..

Ditto. I find it difficult to complain about a game that is "free", especially one as good as PoE.

Though I'm sure everyone wants to make the game even better, hence the thread.
