Good Lord! WoW has made me SLOW
I took an hour or so to reacquaint myself with BF2 and PoE tonight...no CTDs for once, so something in 1.4 worked out my hardware issues.
Either I have gotten too used to the pace of World of Warcraft, or the servers are alot "zergier" than I recall, because PoE moves at a blistering pace.
So much so, in fact, that you can only grab hold of the bull and hang on for dear life, instead of executing tactics and commands.
Must be getting old.
Guess I better get back in there and get my twitch on, since that seems to be the name of the game.
BTW, the new sniper rifles (German side at least) makes you godly...I hope they don't fix it (
)!

Re: Good Lord! WoW has made me SLOW
Well, I finally got PoE installed, and Thunderhorn was under maintenance for the last 36 hours. Felt good to hoist the sniper rifle again, give some long distance wake up calls to wussypoo, among others.
I haven't tried a recent build of Tac-Mod, so looking forward to that this weekend, although I have a website to develop.

I'll admit I did a bit of a double take when I saw 'TGLuna' in my squad last night. At first I thought it was an imposter.

It was interesting to watch Sabre run around in GRAW swinging his SCAR-L like an axe.

The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving.

Re: Good Lord! WoW has made me SLOW
There are a number of factors making the server a bit crazy lately.
1. Lots of new-to-TG players who don't have a grasp of how we work. We push the rules as hard as possible, but it takes time to adjust the people to the environment, especially when the regulars are being affected by other factors like those below.
2. The new game and new maps mean that even the TG regulars are in exploratory mode. This means that they are strongly preferring to attack CP's over defending.
3. The lack of people filling the CO position means that we don't have a strong command structure and it is therefore there is little defense, and it is hard to remove people for not following orders.
Lots of people believe that PoE is naturally slanted toward run and gun play, but I have been watching it evolve since it arrived, and I see it going very much toward a game of careful movement and ambushes. Anyone who has moved on an apparently undefended flag only to get creamed upon arrival knows what I'm talking about.
I can't wait for a PoE scrim. It will be amazing to see how careful planning will work on those maps.Peace through fear... since 1947!

Re: Good Lord! WoW has made me SLOW
I have to say: the passworded and TACMOD nights this weekend were tight, thrilling exercises in team combat. I will be joining them this week for sure!
I do not want to step on the toes of the admins by telling them what to do, but I will say that passwording a server means that players have to come in, read something, and then go...which means if they act the asshat, you can remove them summarily without resorting to explanations.
I am not ready for CO or SL yet...I'm still getting my bearings after playing so much WoW....I think that TGers need to step into the CO role, though. There is no excuse for an empty CO chair when I see alot of TG and TG-inhouse tags floating around.
