1: Where do I find the Tactical Gamer PoE2 server?2: What are the server rules?3: How do I report a problem player?4: Why was I kicked or banned?
The TG poe2 server is located in the Virginia datacentre - please note the IP in the image below:

The server plays 1 round per map, switching teams at the end of each round for balance. Squads are emptied at the end of each round, so don't forget to form up again when the round starts or you'll get kicked by the auto-admin script.
5: How do I become a Supporting Member?6: What are the benefits of a Supporting Member?
There are a few innocuous reasons you may have been kicked / banned:
- To make room for a Supporting Member. Supporting Members are entitled to reserved slots on all of our servers and we kick the longest playing Non-Supporting Member to make room for them.
- You forgot to join a squad. Playing as a team is mandatory on TG servers. We don't allow lone wolves.
- Immediately upon loading into the server. This is also part of the SM Reserved Slot script. See below for how it works.
If the above don't apply and breaking one of our rules got you banned, do not start a thread in the forums. Start a thread only in the Contact an Admin forum and follow the procedure listed in the sticky topic of that forum.
7: I am a Supporting Member, how do I claim my reserved slot?
One of the many ways that players can show their support for Tactical Gamer is through purchasing a supporting membership (SM). Supporting memberships are the major component to keeping the lights on here at Tactical Gamer.
The funds received go towards items like domain names, forum software, advertising, servers, storage space, teamspeak, etc. No individuals or administrators receive any money for their service. Additional funds received go into a pool of funds that are utilized when new games are released and we don't have the player-base required yet to support the game.
Quite a few new games have come to market over the past few months and Tactical Gamer has dipped into this pool of funds to provide all of you the capability to play these games Tactical Gamer style. When these new games are released and supported by Tactical Gamer, there are times when other servers begin to make their way out the door. To make sure that your existing favorite game(s) or new release continues to be supported by Tactical Gamer, please consider becoming a supporting member.
To show our appreciation, Tactical Gamer does offer some additional benefits for supporting members. Here are just a few of those benefits:- Personal @tacticalgamer.com email address
- Personal FTP / Web space
- Access to members-only forums
- Access to members-only FTP for high-speed downloads of the latest patches, mods, etc.
- Cool new supporting member tag
under your forum name - Additional capabilities (e.g. create channels) in Teamspeak
- Ability to join an In-house squad (IHS)
- Reserved slots in most of our game servers
- Priority spot to play in TG events (scrims/tourneys)
- Temporary administrative rights on certain game servers
8: Can I wear the TG tag?
In order to participate in our automated reserved slot system for Point of Existence 2, it is recommended that all PoE2 players update their User Profile in the forums and add their Battlefield 2 Player ID#.
How to find out your Battlefield 2 Player ID#
How to add your Battlefield 2 Player ID# to your User Profile- Click on the UserCP link at the top of this page and then select Edit Profile, or follow the link below to open your user profile. Edit Player Profile
- Scroll down to the box titled "Battlefield 2 Player ID" and enter your ID there.
- Click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the page.
9: How do I add the |TG| tags in BF2?
You will see players on the servers using the |TG| tag in their name when they play on the server. Players who become regulars quickly ask: may I use the TG tag in my name?
Anyone who endorses and practices our playstyle and rulesets may wear the TG tag when playing on our or other servers. Bottom line: if you support TG for what it is and want to show that support, the TG tag is a good way to do it. Many players who love it here choose not to sport the tag in their playername, and that's fine, too, if that's what you prefer. The option is there for you to take or leave.
We love it when people support this community with Supporting Memberships, but it's still not required to wear the TG tag. The same goes for when you play on non-TG servers. You are representing the community. If you are wearing the TG tags while on another public server, We expect you to show your TG support by holding to our rules and conduct. Even if that means tactical disadvantage.
10: What is an In-house Squad? (aka: IHS)
1) Open this file (in notepad, e.g.):
C:\Documents and Settings\*you*\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Global.con
2) Edit the second line to look like this:
GlobalSettings.setNamePrefix "|TG|"
note: it's the pipe symbol, not the square brackets: |TG|
... [TG]
11: How do I join a In-house Squad?
An IHS is simply a group of players who have banded together under a single title / tag within the Tactical Gamer (TG) community. These players have the desire to work together as a unit within the greater TG team. Some In-house Squads focus on only one game or mod, while others have interest and participate in multiple games / mods.
IHS FAQ:
What is the purpose of an IHS?
There tends to be one single overarching purpose of an IHS, and that is to grow and learn from friends to become a better functioning unit as a whole than the sum of the individual parts. In other words, the members of an IHS learn and practice to function stronger together. However, each IHS does have their own goals and desires. Some players have come together for the enjoyment of roleplaying and diving deeper into the finer aspects of simulation gaming, acting out their roles on the battlefield. Other players have formed an IHS because they enjoy the laughter and commentary that can only exist amongst friends.
What are the requirements / restrictions of an IHS?- In-house Squads are reserved for Supporting Members.
- The IHS tag is a numerical designation. (e.g. |TG-71st|, |TG-6MD|, |TG-12th|, etc.)
- An IHS is limited to no more than (approximately) twenty eight (28) members.
- A player may only be in one IHS at a time.
- Each IHS will receive a private discussion forum within the TG forums.
- Each IHS will receive individual teamspeak squad channel(s).
- On occasion, In-house squads will receive first access to special gaming events. (e.g. scrims)
How do I start an IHS?
Creating an IHS is rather simple. If you already have a group of friends that you regularly squad up with and would like to officialy form an IHS, then determine your squad numerical designation and contact asch to setup your private forums, group leader(s), teamspeak channels, etc.
I'm not a supprting member. Do I have any options?
Yes! have a look at the Irregulars. They are the only IHS that are exempt from supporting membership requirement.12: What is the TG award and merit system?
You have to ask them! Each IHS is different. Some might have an open door policy or invite only. Some might close all recruitment. Its up to the IHS to decide how they fill out their ranks.
Award forum. This system is setup so any member can submit a nomination for any fellow player that is a member to these forums. Each award is voted upon by the game's admin panel based on the player's actions while at TG and the nomination submitted by the player. More details are given in the Award forum, take a look for yourself!Last edited by FBmantis; 02-25-2009 at 03:16 AM. Reason: combining threads - creating a FAQ
