Side switching
Not sure if this is the proper place to bring it up, but is there anything that can be done about Automatic side switching in POE? I get these wonderful squads when I'm squad leading. We rock for maybe 1 or 2 maps then the server starts grabbing my guys (and girls Penguineer) and throwing them on the other team. Very frustrating. I understand the whole "one sided victory" where your side dominates map after map after map, and I make it a point to get the admin to switch us, so i dont think you can use this argument to warrant team switching. Sorry if this is whinning but as SL, it is my number one bug!!

Re: Side switching
Autobalance is both a blessing and a curse, it keeps the teams balanced, but causes you to get teamswitched away from your squad and also unable to join the right team when pub raiding.

Re: Side switching
Ouch.
But yeah... I don't know if there can be a "good" solution since the automatic switch usually happens to keep the teams balanced numberwise, not skill or fun-wise (Yay! New word!). It's not like we can script the server to hold off switches until an annoying player or a lone wolf dies.... or is there?
Oh, and sorry about getting bumped from the squad yesterday, Experiment. I actually wasn't teamswitched. I was running to revive your lifeless body from the clutches of death when I was removed for a supporting member.
I guess you just weren't meant to live

We are working on getting a more relaxed auto-balance going.

Re: Side switching
The more relaxed one is in place. It's the best we can do. The more players that are on, the larger the spread allowed between the two teams before the autoswitch. But there is still a limit needed, and it does get eclipsed.

Re: Side switching
Ahhh so that's what happened. I think i was taking you for granted, I actually started dying after you left!! I'm squad leader, I'm not supposed to die! THat's what squadies are for....
Thanks for the game.
And thanks for the info admin type guys, I just thought I'd throw it out there and get some feedback. Guess I just have to live with it. Hope it isn't that bad with 2142....

Re: Side switching
2142? Heh.. Expect all to be worse. You will likely not have many people in your squad in the first place, since we can't run custom scripts on a ranked server.

Re: Side switching
The real problem with the auto switch is what causes it. Win or lose I rather be ina good squad. I've switched teams to get on a the more teamwork oriented side. SOmetimes it's even the losing team, but it's more fun to play in the good squad than just get a mystical "W".

Re: Side switching
It just seems like the switching isnt random. I've had up to three members switched out of my squad during the course of one round. And even when they've come back, the same people will get switched again. I'm curious as to how it decides who to switch.

Re: Side switching
There's auto switch and there's manual admin switch, as far as I know. I think auto switch just takes the most recent dead player and moves them over.

Re: Side switching
Yeah, when it needs to switch someone it just waits for the next person to die.
