We've seen the technical answer on power and accuracy. What about rate of fire and recoil by the numbers, in the code? The VEPR feels like the Mp% in Raven Shield. It shoots like a sub machinegun and hits like an assualt rifle.

After tonight I think I'm going to have to start avoiding Spies Like Us. When one team has twice as many kills as the other, it's time to call it a night.

Here's the round to which Barracuda was referring to.

The VEPR is nice but I'm telling ya its the dark UKR uniforms that unbalance that map. You'll find yourself less questioning how you got beat by a VEPR and instead more wondering where the enemies are. The background is dark so the uniforms blend in really well. Change the UKR uniform to white and that map would be for the most part balanced just like Fallen and Orel are.

^ there we go, there was something I was noticing tonight but I couldn't quite put my finger on it... now that you mention it, it makes perfect sense. The 7th was defending that ridgeline just to the east of launch site so we were looking up at them against the black sky. And I could never tell on my low-res screen whether that faint black blob was an enemy or just a background image artifact

and now for some math: the ukr team had 750+ kills, the ger had just under 400 kills, which is about a 300 kill difference, almost double the kill count. so should we be in awe of the ukr assault skills, or in awe of the ger medic skills, who were able to keep the total ger team death down to only 380 deaths - only 70 more than the total ukr team deaths =o that's about 300 revives!!

that round was bittersweet. Bitter because of what everyone stated above (VEPR/wearing white at night) and I was on the receiving end. Sweet because it was pretty cool seeing how a team could line up with proper spacing and put a solid amount of fire down range, for example.

As for the VEPR being better, I would have to say yes.

I agree with Mantis. I've played on both sides when they win, but I think the uni's have more to do with it. That and the map is biased towards defenders at most flags. Most flags have high ground around not at the flag so u are immediately put at a dissadvantage switching from assault to defense. Then as described above for Germany the problem is compoudning by the dark uni's coming over the ridges against the dark sky.

I would also point out the dark uniforms work well with the fallen timber. Lot's of places to hide and stay put. THe white german helmet sticks out easy by a fallen log.

    Good Lord.

I thought suicide tactics were frowned upon.

Santa had 86 kills and 9 deaths. 9.55 kill death ratio.

No way you keep throwing guys at that position or flag.

Who commanded these men/women to their deaths?
    I want answers!! Just kidding.

Santa, care for a brief AAR?
Or can anyone who was there tell us what happen.

    Thanks luuser for the hyperlink.

    Re: VEPR or G-36

What happened was Santa was on defense and they kept rushing in especially near the beginning at Bunkers. Mind you I was on Santa's team. I never really thought about the light/dark uniform issues. It is pretty easy to spot the lighter German uniforms from a distance. That's such a huge advantage when you can spot them before they spot you.

Perhaps this thread might be sent over to the POE devs so they can take a look at the balance issues that this map brings up. I can't recall one game where the Germans have dominated, let alone won. After all are we not one of the top POE servers out there?

    Thanks for the intel jmaker.

    I was afraid of that.

Not ever playing the map, I can't really add anymore.

Good point about sending this to the PoE devs.

    Interesting thread.

    Re: VEPR or G-36

I think the UKR team played the map perfectly. instead of setting up on the flags, they were in positions around the flags that gave them better ground but allowed them to respond to any of the three flags they held as well as support a squad already on defense or so it seemed from the German side.

The germans won Dnipro, or whatever the daytime snow one is with the canyon, last night

    Re: VEPR or G-36

Maybe this could be in an AAR, but i feel too many people are just blaming German losses on the VEPR and uniforms too much.

The reason Germany lost that round by so much wasnt just the VEPR or the uniforms (though that did have some impact of course). The 4 biggest things that hurt the germans were 1) Ukraine had a good commander, 2) Germany didnt have a commander, 3) Way too many german squads bunching up, hugging eachother for warmth, and 4) lemming rushes. And this seems to happen to MOST german teams in this map, for whatever reason.

In that map you cannot bunch up at all. Aculles screenshot is the way every squad should be spread out. Near the end of the round i snuck up on a squad near the launch site and they were all within about 5 meters of eachother, not moving. Those were the most and some of the easiest headshot kills ive ever gotten in such a short span of time. If they had been spread out, i might have gotten one of them at the most.

Another thing you cannot do is lemming rushes. Youve got to move up smart and cover eachother. Every ten yards, hit the ground and hide behind a tree or a fallen tree stump. You also have to use that cover well. Take a few pot shots, and once you see the very first bullet hitting your stump, inch over to where they dont have a shot. If your squad was spread out, the guy that was firing at your stump is likely dead.

As far as strategically, too many people go after the wrong flags. If you are German, take BOTH of the flank flags. If you get both of those and keep a squad on each, everything will collapse for the Ukraines. If you are Ukraine, hold the flank flags (which people always seem to do), hold the bunkers, and with everyone else hold the hills around the launch site. If you have the hills, you probably have the flag as well. Too many German teams just push straight up the middle, right through every gauntlet they could possibly run into.
