    Hello

    hello guys,

Just wanted to stop by and say hello. I've played in the Tactical Gamer POE server (Best Pub Server) and notice alot of the TG guys have some really good skills. I think you guys would be good in competition so i want to invite you to join w w w .caleague.com for POE 10v10. Sign up are still open. Matches take place once a week on Sundays at 9:30 est (most team are really good rescheduling if that time is bad for you). We have alot of fun, every week there is a MOTW (Match Of The Week) which is broadcasted to the community by either w w w .fragtv.com or w w w .egln.net . If you have any questions or need help post on the forums or feel free to xfire me. Thanks for your time.

    Re: Hello

I think the poster is asking us to participate as a TG team rather than trying to solicit us into an external team or clan.

That's just what I got from it...could be wrong.

Hi heineken! Welcome to the forums...

I think we'd have plenty of interested players, except that at TG we abide by a different set of rules, regardless of the server we play on. Where how you win is as important as if you win, and unfortunately most ladder/tourney's are set up with anything-goes rules.

If you take a look through the forums, you'll see posts about 32 vs 32 scrim's we frequently run - we always have such rules.

If you're interested, maybe you could get a few teams together and we could setup such a scrim?

    Re: Hello

Hi guys, plz forgive Heineken as I was late in informing him on how to post URL's without resorting to using links. (remove parse links option). He's just eager to get you guys to play....as am I.

Anywho, the idea here is for you guys to come and play in CAL for POE2. Now one thing you need to realize is that CAL is probably the most stringent of all competitive leagues.

To play in CAL, your server must be PB enabled and also must stream to the punkbusted master ban list. We also enforce the use of CAL Anti-Cheat created MD5 checks. We also require the use of demos and for you to maintain them for a certain period of time. Currently POE2 roster size is limited to 18 players per team and you can't team hop.

Here are the rules for CAL:

    h t t p://caleaguedotcom/?page=rules

Now we can't enforce the rules that you have in place for your own community but that's not stopping you from playing as you see fit. For legitimate competition that is fair across the board, we play the game as it was designed because we cater to multiple audiences like South America and Europe. So we adhere to one standard and most other leagues follow our lead so as to avoid confusion for the player. Too many rulesets and people get confused lol. Gentlemans rules are almost impossible to enforce because it comes down to finger pointing and accusations. One of the rules you guys have in place is no spawn camping. Well what we have done in our BF2 sections is use a competition mod called BF2Pro which basically places additional and or tweaked spawns in each main. Mostly to insure fairness that each team has equal time in getting to priority assests so that no team has an advantage simply because they had good spawns. We remove that randomness because randomness does not equate to skill.

So with that, I really would like to see you guys form some teams and come enjoy a Sunday evening with us for the rest of the season.

The extra benefit is that by coming onto our league, you'll wind up getting more players involved in your own.

this was the first step on our part...to make contact and to try to get you involved for some Sunday night fun.

Alright, enough from me and I'll see you guys on the server tonight as I always do lol.

    Re: Hello

Proper tactics and teamplay play the biggest role in whether a team wins or not in BF, regardless of what tactics other teams use. It would be nice to see how a very tactical team fairs in CAL.

    Re: Hello

Agreed - Tactics and squad-cohesion are clearly very important. The thing is that generally, we'd rather not have to deal with unrealistic "gamey" techniques. I don't fault anyone for using such techniques, as they're built into the game engine. And fully understand why such subjective rules are difficult to implement in a league like that.

That being said, things like bunny-hopping, prone-spamming, point-blank usage of explosives (think GP-30/SRAW), and other techniques that exploit the game-engine really degrade the quality of a game if you're looking for a reasonably immersive combat game experience. It's the same deal with squad-leader-switching, which I believe was extensively used in CAL games until the last patch. This has always been banned here because it reduces the importance of squad-level tactics and maneuvering, and puts more emphasis on the ability to effectively manipulate game menus/mechanics.

    Re: Hello

Hey guys, thanks for the information. I'll notify the rest of the BF2 admin team about your invitation, and we'll let you know if we are interested.

In future please post requests like this to either a BF2 admin, or better yet the BF2 Game Officer. Relevant information can be found alongside the server rules in the Rules and Announcements section.

As you are inviting us to participate in an external event you are not breaking any rules (as opposed to inviting us to join an external team or clan, which is), but generally you get better results by contacting an admin right away as we don't often talk to the commoners here

Well, as we all know, the patch fixed prone spamming and in POE2 you can't bunny hop because there is a stamina penalty applied for jumping just once. As for point blank usage of explosives, it's a non-issue as players at this level of competition don't like to die let alone at their own hands lol. The squad switching was part of the game up until the patch as well and there was no viable means to enforce rules against it. If we did, we'd be going through hundreds of demos a week.

so with that, there really aren't any issues that would prevent you from competing while maintaining the immersive experience you desire.

I think you'd have a blast playing in CAL. I say, take a risk, you just might like it and if you don't...no loss. Either way it's a chance for your guys to play together in a different format and make some new friends while having fun....and isn't this what it's all about? Fun?
