    Squad question

Had a worry the other night and thought I would ask. I occasionally come on before my TOC brethren join. During these times I like to snipe. On some maps.... it is difficult to participate in squad missions. As snipers work best as "lone wolves" and as such not condoned by server rules..... Would it be permitted to create a "sniper" squad for those who want that sort of thing.

Of course.... if requested by a commander (when there is one) or by an admin... the squad would be disbanded or changed to a more goal oriented unit. As always, it is my intention to try to work within the framework of the server as laid out in the rules.

Yes, sniper squads are fine, just lock the squad when it reaches 2 or 3, because more than that doesn't help. Name it something like Snipe3max to let people know the number limit. Also make sure the CO knows the purpose of your squad.

Thanks for the response... I was sure of the answer but it never hurts to ask.

    Re: Squad question

Sometimes the in house squad Im a member of (1st MIP) utilizes the sniper as an intelligence gatherer primarily, killing only when necessary or under orders. With good comms and coordination a good SL using a sniper can really help a tightly run squad. So--lonewolf is not always better-I respectfully posit.

    Re: Squad question

I agree..... but on some maps, it is difficult for a sniper to keep up with the fast paced movement of a squad the travels around a large map. My crew tends to take a flag then try to defend it. If it get taken from us, we try to take it back. We have played entire rounds fighting around a single flag.

Due to age and eye issues.... I cant do the death match type fighting like some of you can. Concealment is the best chance I have of survival. I love to set traps and ambushes. Sniping from as extreme a distance as possible is very satisfying.

Youll often see me ask all one man squads to join up or be kicked. However, if you are running a small squad like that, just explain yourself in chat. As long as you dont lock it at one person and you are trying to help the team, id let it go.

    Re: Squad question

I think I got it worked out well. Last night we had a commander tell my 2 man sniper squad to defend the power house. We tried and died. He then started to growl about not following orders.

I explained to him that we had tried and as "sniper" had not succeeded. I then decided to change the squad to a defensive one and we defended the town (successfully) until the end of the map.

Oh and the commander.... Joined the TOC squad and stayed with us for the next 2 maps. It's all good. Just takes teamwork

Seems I keep running into a lone sniper on Carpathian Mountains. While lone snipers may be pesky, they sure are fun to knife! By the way, Thanks TOC guys for letting me be a grunt for a round on Orel.

Lucky has 25 Gigs worth of screenshots in a database so that he can pull evidence against any player whenever he needs it.

I'm not a mid size company and I'd rather wait until I am a "great big company".
The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving.

Good Games tonight Gman! Ah, your a lot more fun to gun after when you don't have other people at your back like Floyd, Liminal, and Flyer! That was a lot of fun on Carpathian tonight as our squads went head to head!
