I love the Anti-material rifle. I like the slower pace of finding a target or two and picking them off from as far away as possible. I think (sometimes) that I have a natural sneakiness that allows me to find decent spots to shoot from, that are not as obvious to my victims.

The one shot kills are offset by the inability to shoot in any position but prone. This could be a pain in POE with all the grass and weeds. I have not been able to play any of the ported maps yet.

Knights, I am glad you stuck around long enough to see that your first impression was not the best to judge with. I mentioned before that the competition on this server is tough. Now you know

Re: Invincible players who kill with 1 shot

Knights, this was a very interesting thread. At the time you posted, I was very into scores, maybe a hangover from vanilla, or just trying to figure out who was good, or were these people that were always taking me out *really* that good : )

Because of the posts I started aiming at the head more, using single shot more, scopes if I had them depending on the weapons, and I think it improved my game some. I started to realize it was the tactics of the shooters as well - using the terrain, being aware of your surroundings, etc. I could consistently have the highest score on vanilla just by charging into every flag and firing away (there I go talking score again). Watching the good ones on POE SL, they wait for the whole squad, they delay spawn so only one is seen approaching, etc. etc. I wish I could get in these squads every night, but sometimes its tough.

Thanks to your post, I have been scoring many more head shots though. And, I look for Lucky/Spider-man on rooftops of South Cabin ; )

    I agree with Project 100%.

I have almost completely changed by gameplay since starting to play POE2 here at TG. Desert Combat and BF2 changed by FPS gaming style to a run and gun, knife-in-my-teeth, rambo-style... I used to be so much more patient and cautious (Ghost Recon 1 anyone?).

So, I feel like I've come full circle and found my proper place again. I still love a good fast-paced attack, don't get me wrong, but I definitely pick my shots much more than I used to. Oh, how I missed my single-shot fire setting on my riffle... thank you POE.

Both ProjectNA and Cuervo's KDR and truly their effectiveness have increased recently. The only negative is that they are killing ME more, darnit!

Yes POE takes a whole different mindset as far as the weapons are concerned. For me at least.

The fundamental factor, to my perception, is more accuracy combined with more recoil.

In vanilla, the random deviation is pronounced. So it is not uncommon for even your first round to miss your target. This deviation gets worse as the burst continues and you are also effected by recoil. Of course some amount of luck and law of averages means these two will cancel each other out to a very limited extent. So you have a sort of "cone of fire" you expect the burst to fall into.

In POE I pretty much expect the first round I fire to hit right where I'm aiming. As a burst cintinues, the recoil kicks in and the crosshairs move, but I still expect the bullet to hit pretty close to where the crosshairs are, which at anything but close range, is now over the targets shoulder somewhere. The percieved recoil effect in POE is substantially greater to me.

I'm sure this is not 100% accurate in game terms, but when I put myself in the mindset of compensating for recoil, my game seems to improve.

Conclusion? "At anything but close range" try single-shot mode on that rifle (exception being the Ukrain spec-ops rifle)

    Absolutely!

I only switched at long range in vanilla, in POE I switch to single a lot! (When I remember too that is :P

I tend to keep single shot on at all times, even with guns like support. Even at close range, I can fire three-round bursts and if a burst or two doesn't take down the enemy, I likely wouldn't have hit him at all on auto.
