It's been a few months since I played. I gave it a run this weekend and so far I love the new maps. I don't know all the names and I may not have played all of them, but Quarry does stick in my mind. I loved it. A lot of action. I look forward to playing again.

Re: Feedback on the new maps

I believe I already addressed this map, but having put more time into the new map pack maps, I feel I have formed a more concrete impression of Quarry since my first comments. The things that frustrated me then no longer apply.

It would truly be an excellent map with lots and lots of room for strategic gaming. The quarry itself is particularly fun to both defend and attack; the former requiring skillful use of available terrain and cover, the latter requiring forethought and good intel.

However, in addition to the helo-pad, it seems to me (and I might be wrong) that the quarry CP is all that is required to induce bleed on the other team; the other flags don't seem to weigh in for much after that. From what I have observed, the quarry CP is just a meat-grinder. It's a shame really but, to be honest, playing through a full round on that map in such manner became exceedingly boring toward the end and undermines Quarry’s potential to be one of the better maps in the rotation.

I like all the maps 'cept for stormfront, no cover = huge snipefest. Haven't really played Acorn yet.

Re: Feedback on the new maps

I used to think Woodlands had too many flags, but then i got a chance to command it. When there are no commanders, yes its whack a mole. And you really kind of have to whack a mole in order to keep up with the other team. Since you cant defend every flag statically, it behooves you to be aggressive.

So if you command, dont put up static defenses on every flag. Instead, create a frontline. Spread squads out and put the majority of your squads away from the flags, holding areas where the enemy has to move through to get to back flags. I did this last night and we held the same 4 flags for almost the entire game. There was 0 whack a mole except in the first 5 minutes when both sides were scrambling for position.

With all of that said, i could live with the Boat CP gone. Its not a particularly fun CP to fight over, and i think it would make bleed a bit more interesting. If you take out the Boat CP, make all flags affect bleed equally. This will still put emphasis on Watchtower due to its position and defense-ability, but still leaves back flags as important CPs to defend/attack. You will still see plenty of battles on the eastern part of the map where the Boat CP otherwise would be, because its such a great place to flank towards back flags.

It sure felt like "whack a mole". TOC was Santa's fast response squad. We sat SE of the hilltop with shrine to the SE and Encampment to th South. We supported the troops at the shrine and watched over the encampment and the lumbermill. Santa ran us around like we were in a Pinball machine.

Good Job to Santa for using us as support where needed and for not sending us into anything alone that we couldnt handle.

Good Job goes to Floyd, Angelofdeath, Brit, Drakken, and FatKid of Death. You all made me look good as a SL

Is it possible to remove the air from Sharqi? (in the official release) That map plays so brilliantly - but we don't even play it here because of how the helo's are overpowered (I assume - I never got to play the map because it was yanked so quickly)

edit: or at least have them removed for the 32p and 16p maps? (assuming they're not already)
