Bleak was out with technical difficulties, so I had the pleasure of dropping the Hind with squads into the North side of Farm on three occasions and the East side on another, very tense stuff.

This was my first Scrim and I hope it will not be my last, good times had all around.

Yeah, I didn't get to fly the Hind, but I did have a lot of fun destroying armor column after armor column in the Eurotiger Cantpick and I had been flying together all week to prepare, and I think it showed.

Oh, it showed all right. You guys were definitely a deciding factor in that round.

    Re: Scrimmage against GC

First off, great work guys.. great rounds by all.. I felt Fallen went as planned, alot of killing, and me waiting for my paddles to recharge ALOT .

Rolling Tunder was a bit boring for me on the north end of the map.. NO worries, I dont mind, really... Less dying for me. During the first round I was put in charge of the AA stinger pick up kit from the farm.. Although I did hit the Hind a few times(only to soften him up for Lucky ) I didnt get a kill until they dropped in a squad on the farm the second time. 2/5 for the round LOL

The second round, I was again put in charge of the AA kit, this time at the train yard.. Again, boring, behind Lucky's (and SawVipers)tank rage LOL jk..

I got a few shots on the Chopper as it flew by, no kills. I was killed by armor east of the bridge early on, and the AA kit never respawned.. I had spawned medic, so I suck with it for quite a while.. I spent most of the round looking for fast movers from the roof of the train "barn"....

I never saw the squad that must have come in the west door and flopped the flag so fast.. From the time I said "Hey, the flag is grey" to the point that everyone turned around, the flag was theirs. Being on the roof, I was able to take out two trough the windows on the roof. We hopped on the flag , capped it to ours, YET of course it had to be glitched We were then ordered to fall off the flag, to wait for them to recap it. I moved back enough to wait for them to spawn, they must not have known it was glitched, as they were not looking at the flag, just at all the armor we were rolling into the flag area..
It seemed to take forever to take that flag back. After taking the flag back, we did a full search of the area for stragglers, to find none.. So I climbed back on the roof and took a nap jk

My only suggestion is.. When we were trying to take the windmills for so long. It was obvious they had alot of resources there. We should have moved more people into the area. Not saying to leave our other duties. Yet , we could have givin a little more support to those getting pounded on the south end of the map. Even spearheading an assault on the 'mills to take them.

Again.. Great job guys.. regardless of being a bit boring on RT, which is ok.. I did enjoy my first scrim with ALL of you. Was very impressed with everyones discipline.

    Re: Scrimmage against GC

    WOW! What a day.

In Fallen on the German side I was with Lucky's squad - I hope my spotting helped.. seemed it was about all I could do. The north end of the river got HOT frequently so after awhile I just took up a position where I could see what was going on and spot their assaults before they got anywhere with them.

OK.. I CO'd Fallen for the Ukrainian side..I wish I had taken screen shots.. but as my first scrim CO.. I was freakin' nervous and forgot. My apologees to all that I briefly misdirected from time to time. 4 and 6 worked the north side like a charm - I didn't quite picture it that way but they did GREAT. Lucky Shot spent a lot of time between Crash and South, but recapturing Lumber as needed.. it couldn't have been scripted any better. The picture I wish I had was when we were full on defensive.. EVERYONE was in perfect position.. it looked awesome from the air and lasted a LONG time.

In Fallen, South was a HOT SPOT from trenches.. I hope my spotting helped, They were so intent there that I started sending 2 and 3 to Trenches (alternating) to draw and divide them up - it seemed to work pretty well, but it was obvious that without using a massive assault, trenches wasn't worth taking - but it was worth containing.. and the death count just rolled things up for us.

Rolling thunder was just a BLAST. I was paired with Jepzilla in the Got Armor? Squad with Mantis. It could be my imagination but I seemed to mesh in quite well. We were essentially two different squads.. but a great deal of cohesion.
We had a solid effort on the German side putting pressure on and then defending Windmills. The Flanking move we made revealed a HUGE armor group of 6 solid tanks and APCs.. Jep and I took out the whole group in what seemed like seconds. And then... well.. we won't speak of the Arty. Later Jep made an AWESOME call toward the end of the match and we were rolling toward Village and he had a 'bad feeling' about the hill south of the road so we headed for it.. took a coupla shots here and there, and then we came around the hill to see at LEAST 2 squads and Armor headed for Windmills - I think our spotting and Jep's 'Bad Feeling' was worth it.

Rolling Thunder UKR - Ditto - but harder fought, GC became TENACIOUS and were clearly not going to let us work Windmills from the route we were taking.. adaptation by Got Armor? really caused them fits in the region and that was all it took.. much closer round..

    GOOD GAMES ALL!

    Re: Scrimmage against GC

Congrats guys! Well done. Apparently all that planning and hard work paid off!

I'm really bummed I wasn't able to get back in time to play... although I did manage to find an internet connection towards the end of Fallen and was able to see how things were going using bftracker. All I can say is . The kill-zone/triangle strategy (and VEPR's) were obviously doing their jobs... there were some ridiculous K/D's happening....

I've gotta say... MUCH respect to you =GC= guys. Looks like you battled hard right through end. That's more than can be said for many teams, and is a testament to your determination and sportsmanship (oh, and it didn't go unnoticed that more than half your team was playing through tripple-digit pings) Maybe for a rematch we can try PoE2 on BF2 maps?

Finally, props to Nate and Lucky and all who helped get this thing organized.

Thumbs up Re: Scrimmage against GC

First off, huge props to the =GC= guys!! What an excellent 4 rounds!!

I was in Charlie Squad for the match, led by TG5th C4_SGT_YORK, and manned by TG5th pjaronex, |TG-Irr|Wimpinator, |TG-Irr|Foxoq, and |TG-Irr|D.Blonov (except for Fallen 1 which Blonov CO'd for). York did a great job squad leading, and all in all I think our squad played pretty tightly for the day.

On Fallen 1 & 2 we were all about Crash Site, and we're pretty busy. I found the fixed machine gun emplacements to be pretty useful those rounds...and perhaps got a bit carried away some times

On Fallen 2 we defended south east off of Crash Site pretty far at times and ended up putting pressure on Trenches...we were picking guys off coming out of there, and then succumbed to temptation to try to capture it at one point (with permission) when it looked pretty vacant. They had loads of C4 on the flag and weren't about to turn it over easily.

Rolling Thunder 1 was just a thing of beauty at Windmills. The grounds between Village and Windmills was just a deadly killing ground and had to be frustrating for the =GC= units that tried to approach our CP across that ground. |TG-Irr|Foxoq was just deadly on the .50cal in my tank, and my HEAP shells into the tree line just seemed unfair...so many hits on the enemy without ever actually seeing them.

    Rolling Thunder 2 was intense!

Our squad did get wiped out almost immediately on the initial roll-out to Windmills. It was payback time...infantry vs armor is just not pleasant sometimes.

At one point in the fight to capture Windmills (we were desparately trying to get that flag turned) I ended up prone in the crates at the base of the flag...it was an intense moment for me and unfortunately I was in a zone and had no idea what the rest of the squad was doing...obviously I missed the part where they decided to go elsewhere It was only a matter of time before me and my shotgun got ferreted out!

As for the helo insertions...it was very high drama! Very cool stuff, but was damn hard as well. The LZ was less then friendly. I was having a hard time getting anything going (read: was sucking badly) and was amazed at how long York managed to stay alive.

As for the aircrew...awesome stuff guys!!

I didn't have the presence of mind to grab screenies or vids during the insertions...I was busy being shot...but did grab this capture of Shakey and his Arty unit on the flight out from the UCB.

Anyway, what an absolutely awesome scrim...it was such a blast. Much thanks to Lucky and Natedogg for putting this together, to the CO's and SL's for leading TG through some great games!

    Cheers,

    Howdy!

Thank you all kindly for the scrim this past weekend. Even though we got our butts whooped, I was having a blast fighting against such worthy opponents, and the between-round chats were great for laughs The medic in me got to do lots of reviving, lol!

You guys have great skill and excellent character, and it was a pleasure playing with you! Hope to do it again sometime

Welcome to the forums Goggles. You killed me so many times on Fallen that I lost track. It seemed like every time I turned around you were there to blow me away.

I was EXTREMELY impressed with the GC guys. Everyone played well and represented your group well. I was also impressed that you had a full team after loosing the first 3 rounds. Most of the scrims I have played resulted in the other team bailing before the last round. You guys did great.

That last round was intense. During the last moments everyone was just trying to not die. Man that was awesome!

Goggles, well done to you and all your GC members who participated. Your comments about skill and character apply to you GCers as well. We look forward to the next scrim.

    Re: Scrimmage against GC

Good times yesterday. Appreciate the GC crew filling their team and sticking around through all four rounds. Here is a quick AAR from my view:

    - Fallen as GER: GC were swarming us all over the place. We seemed content to keep trying to get our three flag setup back so we constantly had to face this swarm and were on bleed most of the time. The problem with GC though is they were definitely too aggressive. Our teams K/D ratio was about 2 to 1 by the end of the round. Their other problem is they were going for revives all over the place but never bothered to look out for people still in the area. I went 97-7 mostly by nailing medics and their revives over and over. Nades and C4 on downed bodies was very successful...hell one time I ran out of all ammo and pulled out the knife...I expected to die quickly but instead ran around for about 45 seconds around crash site knifing about 6 people in a row. They just completely missed me and kept going for revives. Felt like I was playing the Hidden from that HL2 mod of the same name. I'm sure their pings didn't help but damn...I must have had 15+ knife kills that round from all the situations involving the medics who were careless in their revives. Santa would have had a field day. heh

    - Fallen as UKR: Plan went much smoother here. North of Crash Site was just locked down by the combination of Boot and Dawolf squads. We basically just set up a firing lane as they crossed the river/stream ...this setup with the additions of VEPRs just let me and James tear up anything that approached. I think we stayed in that area the whole round. Boot got us lots of supply drops which was nice. Occasionaly we helped at crash but usually the c4 traps did the work there. I wish my screenshots took cause I had some nice ones of the walls our team had going...they were things of beauty.

    - Rolling Thunder as GER: Plan went perfect. I think we only lost the Farm once for a bit and that was it? From my end running the tank squad we had good success. Me and James roamed north of the Bridge mostly harassing the Trainyard. Meanwhile P8riot and Jepzilla were like a separate other squad sticking together at the windmills. This was exactly how I wanted it to play out and it worked great. Lots of kills and negation of enemy armor...not many deaths on our end. Top notch team performance all around. Chopper and arty were brutal.

    - Rolling Thunder as UKR: Armor squad started out with myself and James shelling the bridge and p8riot and jepzilla hanging around close to the Windmills. Between the arty and our two tanks life at the Bridge looked rather suicidal. I think Shakey had about 30 kills in 5 minutes. I'm not to sure what happened around the Windmills but they obviously got wiped out. So after that all four of us roamed the grounds between the Village and the Windmills and occasionaly went back to harass the bridge. We got too greedy a few times and went down a bit more than desired. That when on for a bit...then we moved out to help retake the Trainyard and I think thats when Village fell. Jepzilla lost his tank so we were down to 3. We then went back to harass the village and had success in stealing the tank back. After securing the tank we then took all four and starting doing a circle of death around the perimeter...so many AT's got taken out during that period. Eventually we got infantry support and we took the flag. That was right near the end and then it just came down to kills and we were on bleed with about a thirty ticket lead. Couple more minutes and we definitely would have lost.

    Re: Scrimmage against GC

I had a *great* time with this scrim. I got the SL assignment about 18 hours before scrimtime, so had to study up on assignments, but my squads executed flawlessly and managed every assignment they were given without exception.

German Fallen: Both rounds on Fallen I led Squad 4: a floating defense squad including Mantis, James315, Jmaker and Melee. J and Meele were medics with primary and SL shadow respectively. Mantis and James had the quite effective jobs of being deadly.

On Fallen 1 I sprinted to the river and as soon as I was across the guys spawned in. We were to head between Crash and Trenches and flank anyone coming towards them, but the GC guys were already on Trenches. We supported the capture then helped at Crash. It was pretty hot in the area and the initial fighting so unpredictable that I ended up backing towards the river between those two flags and became mobile spawn for the rest of the round.

Once or twice we moved back to regain N Cabin and finished the round defending the river on the N side.

Ukraine Fallen: For the second Fallen round I started at Lumbermill and the guys spawned after my sprint was bar was empty. Even this was cool to me: A half second after I said "Spawn in" there were 4 other blips on my minimap. We formed a line north of Crash site and never left the area. Only once did the GC guys get across the river North, and then because we'd pulled back to help regain Crash. They were down in under a minute.

Couple highlights that round include James heading out towards N Cabin to recon, and when he found it lightly defended I asked he and Mantis to take it. We didn't even try to hold it, just had Mantis and James harrass them a bit. They were up there quite a while before respawning on me.

The other highlight was wondering where P8riot went. I kept relaying info his way on the CO channel, but never heard anything back. When there were about 50 tickets left, he came on the CO channel and said something to the effect that he'd been pressing the wrong button the whole round.

Rolling Thunder: Plans were pretty much the same just on different sides of the river. Squad 6 was a 3 man AT squad assigned to keep mines on the railroad bridge. Jmaker and Tybalt and I did the job; no vehicles made it across in either round, though late in the 2nd round a lonely tank came right on up and killed itself.

These rounds were pretty quiet for us. Tybalt kept his mines up by lying under the bridge for most of the round, I sniped a few guys with my MG and kept Mantis' tank twins full of ammo, and Jmaker floated around to take out some boats trying to get across. I went sniper for a bit round 2 but mostly we just kept mines up and took out the occasional sneaker.

A general comment on the GC guys: Even with the scores rolling in as they did, there were constant positive comments rolling on the tickers between rounds. High class group, lots of fun to play, and I hope we can get together again sometime.

This was the first scrim I've been able to join, and I finally understand why guys get excited about them. Thanks to Lucky and the GC guys.

    Couple of screenies.

Fallen round one: note the TG kill number vs. the GC death number. Their medic work was impressive!

    Helping secure the Farm.

    Tybalt waits for higher rollers.

    Great games everyone!

Ah HA! I knew it! When I said that I heard back from Lucky and E-male they could here me fine.. but I knew I was talking more than I was getting back! I bet when I remapped keys after reinstalling everything - I remapped something wrong.

It didn't seem to matter though and this just proves the fact that TG SL's are in-fact psychic because I can't recall one instance where a squad didn't do what I verbally asked for.

I'll check the key when I get home, It is concievable that I just wasn't talking to you Boot!
