Re: POE News #98
[rant] I can't say that I'm too happy to see another sniper kit. I've yet to see a sniper that contributed much to his team, to say nothing of those that lay claymores on or near flags "in defense". They rarely, if ever take flags and they certainly don't hold them. At least this one's a pick up.
Personally, I feel that both the sniper kit and anti-personnel RPG kit should be limited to just a few pick up kits only per map. I just can't see any standing army fielding as many of these units as we sometimes see on some maps. I've seen entire squads equipped with these and only one support kit spamming ammo. It gets my goat. If Rocket Arena was the game to play, we should have loaded up Quake. [/rant]

Re: POE News #98
Sounds like you haven't seen any good snipers playing. I had a three to four man all sniper squad last night on Dnipro Sunrise and we captured the Power Station and the AA Nest. You can ask your buddy York since we kept capping him and his sqaud while we took the flag from them at the Power Station. While we were doing our sniping thing, I was calling out targets to Viper and Santa in the jet squad who were quite happy to shoot down aircraft. And when necessary, they bombed the flag to clear it for us. The fact that I walked away with a 15-1 K/D ratio wasn't bad either. I went with an all sniper squad because I normally get very bored on Sunrise and wanted to do something different. Overall, we were pretty effective (shoutout to Sumluv, Clawhammer, and Blonov
). TG has some very good sniper talent (Mantis, Santa, Sumluv, Clawhammer, Sordavie, etc.), you just have to know how to use them in your squad.
As for the anti-personnel kit, hush your mouth. It's fine the way it is, devs.

Re: POE News #98
Well I would not claim much if you are playing Dnipro Sunrise with snipers on the Ukrainian side. If the Ukrainian Air power was balanced then the German side could actually use the armor at some of the bases. But with no anti-jet deterrant at either Power Plant or Air Nest you are basically a sitting duck in any vehicle.
With two skilled pilots like DV and Santa the Ukrainian team basically never had to worry about anything but infantry. Show me a German sniper squad do that on that map and I will eat crow. I have a feeling their rifles are not going to do well against that APC or tank.|TG-12th| Sawviper

Re: POE News #98
I don’t think POE needs another sniper kit pickup. The anti material rifle is ridiculous enough. It would be cool if you could pick up a good secondary weapon. Even a better pistol would make the sniper kit more effective in close combat.
I love to hear folks don’t want snipers in their squads. It makes my job, when I use the sniper kit, easier. Please keep running your squads without one.

Burning spies is cool.

Re: POE News #98
Both the Power Plant and the AA Nest have AA turrents which are effective against the slow flying Frogfoot. However, we sniped anyone who even thought of sitting in one. We would have done the same for anyone with an AA pickup kit. As for the armor, we didn't encounter any. I was targetting the enemy helos for the jets, not the armor. Bleak did defend a flag we were capturing with a transport helo once and I had to call in the jets to solve that problem but never for armor. If the Germans don't man their quite effective mobile AA (the Gepard) to supress the Ukrainian jets, that's not my fault. I'm sure I would have no problem replicating the same feat on Germany. Teamwork is greater than tools. Combined arms for the win.
Anyway, the example I originally gave was for the effectiveness of an all sniper squad. It can be done, it just all comes down to tactics. I'm not gonna send a sniper squad against armor anymore than I would send a squad full of assaults against armor.-33rd- BaneII
