I disagree. The reason Red Dawn was removed is because it was a snipe fest. You simply couldn't move towards a flag without getting gunned down in two shots. I didn't see any Ukraine assualts mowing down German snipers in return. I also disagree that any other rifle can kill with two body shots like the sniper rifle can.

It all comes down to ability. You could say that the engineer kit does not have the ability to outclass other kits until you run into Robocop. The same could be said of the Hind until Anubis jumps into it. I do not play any of the assault kits because I kill better with the three kits that I have mastered. Why? Because while the tools (weapons) are different, it still comes down to the ability of the player behind the tool.

LOL! We sniped each other a couple times last night. Toward the end of one of the rounds you were sniping a bunch of the 33rd guys. After I finally found you and had you in my sights when BaneII just happened to pull his tank right in front of me right when I fired. I shot the right front fender. As BaneII pulled back you nailed me. Then you knifed Backlash…that part was funny.

I have a blast with the sniper kit and that’s all that matters. Although, shotgun therapy on Fallen is my favorite.

    Burning spies is cool.

Some maps have ZERO cover and were removed from the rotation... I'd suggest the same thing would have happened if the sniper kit didn't exist - it's just not good map design...

    Fair enough...

Say what you will, the more snipers that are on the other team, the happier I am. (at least on the maps in our rotation)

I love the sniper role in combat. He's not just a shooter, he's a scout. He can hide and point out locations, watch movements and track them. In POE2 this might be a moot point because Sat scan. I can't remember if POE2 has it.

In PR or EOD2 though this is very nice to have.

Re: Help for a noob sniper

Snipers are usually great, ya just have to use them in moderation like any other kit and have them as an integral part of your strategy. Too many snipers is too one dimensional and can easily be defeated by the rock, paper, scissors in the balance scheme.

Also, snipers in POE are really not snipers (exception being the AM rifles). They are marksman. Myself and plenty of other guys are completley effective with the SVD at 10 meters, and anything under that the pistol and or knife get the job done. Because of that, ill often cap flags with the sniper kit and be very effective, especially if i have someone will a shotgun near me. I think the idea that snipers cant cap flags is purported because some people dont realize that the SVD and MSG90 are closer range "marksman", and therefore they dont get close. Those same people probably wouldn't be the first on the flag with any other kit anyway.

Its important to have a goal in mind for the sniper in a squad as well. For instance, last night i joined up with the 33rd and Viper was in the tank. We went into the forest to the south, and AT rockets were coming out of the woodwork. Every time a rocket went off, and even before it went off, i killed the AT and it saved Viper's tank several times. Could not have done that without a sniper very effectively. Another instance of good sniper use is to have him cover the flag while he is surrounded by the squad in a sort of cocoon. I specifically remember holding off two in house squads a while back on Windmill using this strategy. The point im trying to make is that snipers are ineffective when the SL thinks of them as a "wasted kit". Instead, integrate them into your strategy.

But i digress a little. There are some people that cant even keep a .1 k/d ratio with a sniper, so i would certainly suggest they pick another kit. Not only is that completely ineffective, but it cant possibly be any fun.

Oh yeah that part was a flippin' hoot! Dang it. I did get in a half mag of back shots on him near the end though.

Re: Help for a noob sniper

    thanks for all the tips

and as far as snipers being a great asset I agree and as someone pointed out as long as u don't over do it! I am more of a defensive sniper. put me at a choke point and ill do my best to stop a advancing squad,

also why do most snipers shoot first then spot enemy? i thought snipers could be used for recon of troop/armor movements? most commanders don't use snipers for recon in fact they don't really issue orders to the snipers, thats why snipers tend to be lone wolves or maybe it is the SL that isnt giving the orders dont know, but Commanders and SL's please include the snipers in your tactics.

and as far as feeling a lone wolf when I am sniper not really because I usually am on over watch and i get all warm inside when i can snipe someone and save a squad mate's bacon...and i think snipers in a way are a unsung hero because they can help a squad advance to a flag.
