USMC attacking Berezan island
As I have seen a trend lately in playing on both sides for Berezan island I thought I would point out some keys to victory or even staying competitive. A lot of these are obvious but maybe some of the new people might venture in and take a different approach.
- Spawning and Squads- If you are planning on flying a air asset or using the tomahawks join or make the appropriate squad. This not only allows the commander to apply assets as he/she sees fit, but shows how many people are attempting to use the assets.
- If there is already 1 more person in the squad than the assets can handle do your team a favor and join one where you can assist your team.
- If USMC currently holds a flag on the mainland and you are not in the Tomahawk/Air Attack squads you should be spawning there.
- If you have lost all the mainland flags and your find yourself using a transport vehicle to move to the beach ask yourself two questions.
A) Is there a squadleader of a functional squad on board?
B) Is my transport full?
If you answer no to either of these questions turn around and make sure you can change that answer to yes.

Re: USMC attacking Berezan island
Anyone know how many packs of C4 it takes to blow up the Tomahawk launchers?

Re: USMC attacking Berezan island
Is the Dome of Death turned on for the USMC's LHD? I've never tried going over there and risk getting blamed for UCB-attacking, but it would seem to me that it should be fair game in order to take out the Tomahawk launcher?

Re: USMC attacking Berezan island
Main thing I see that needs to happen on this map is for people to just get off the carrier. The battle is for the island... so get over there on it!
We need a DOD trigger that works backwards. So once you spawn you got a message that says get to the front solider! Then give them 1 min to get their vehicle and GTFO.
I played a round the other day and at the start I spawned on the beach as USMC along with... 2 other people!!! Considering the ENTIRE Ukraine team came by to say hello we held out for a little while.

Re: USMC attacking Berezan island
Great thread. HALO drops can be a very effective tactic on this map for USMC.
1) Ask CO which is least defended flag, and make sure he knows to have reinforcements ready to spawn at that flag once you take it.
2) Take the BlackHawk above the clouds before the flying towards the island... you can get above the massive amount of AA this way.
3) Have pilot come to hover before ejecting - prevents TK's and keeps everyone in same area.
4) When you're free-falling, you can steer. Make sure you point yourself at the flag and press forward (w).
5) Don't open your chute until you're quite close to the ground. A. You'll maintain the element of surprise and B. once the chute opens you move laterally quite a bit - if you open low, you won't drift away.
6) GET ON THE FLAG. With three guys, a flag turns VERY fast... with 5 it's almost instant.
(switching to smoke-nades before ejecting is a good idea too - then you can toss one just as you hit the flag - you can even throw them while in mid-air if you want)
edit: alternate ending - have squad hold spawn until SL safely reaches the ground

Re: USMC attacking Berezan island
This is basically what I have experienced the last two times I have played the map and what motivated this thread. Both of my squads performed well even though they were under attack by most of the opposing teams land and air force. Just gets a little depressing when you open the map and see 18+ blue dots milling around on the carrier.
When you start hoping some pubbie does strafing runs on the carrier you know your teammates are not helping out.|TG-12th| Sawviper

Re: USMC attacking Berezan island
Sorry if its a dumb question, but is the blueberry covered deck a result of the "I really want to fly something" syndrome that occurs on vanilla?

Re: USMC attacking Berezan island
It is either I want to fly something or I want to fire my guided artillery. And on the idea of the opposite Dome of Death I was thinking maybe a auto ejection system. If you sit on the deck for over 2 minutes then it automatically fires you via catapult to about 400 feet from shore.

Re: USMC attacking Berezan island
I was just about to suggest that the carrier party we're seeing in PoE is exactly that - a remnant of attitudes developed while playing vanilla carried over to PoE. And I think we all know how stubborn some of these people can be about it. For some, countless hours spent on the carrier under constant arty barrages and J10 bombing sorties have inured them to the pain of death and ticket loss.
But we do have one relief: There’s no M95 in reach to trigger the pilot’s auto-eject in PoE, and thank god for that. Although I did have one fool try it with his stock sniper rifle once and when that didn’t work, tossed to claymores in my path. I didn’t catch his name and he wasn’t there upon my return.

Re: USMC attacking Berezan island
As always guys we need everyones help in creating more regulars and better teamwork as we experience a full server again. Early on everyone wants to play with the new toys...over time this will fade and we need to pull people in to our style of play on the ground. This will never get better if we throw up our hands and complain but keep all TGers in one ground squad.(this is just a general statement...not related to any squad or anyone in this topic)

Re: USMC attacking Berezan island
Understood ^^^ I was trying to get to the root of it in order to figure out a way to address it.
Any suggestions for prying these people off the deck (besides the catapult, which I love by the way)? Is it just a matter of hoping it wears off, having the commander (if they exist) nudging the SLs of said blueberries, pleading messages, etc?

Re: USMC attacking Berezan island
Maybe we could just disable the spawns on the top deck. Or put all of the spawns more than half way to the island, so that only the truly determined would turn for the carrier.

Seriously, the USMC needs to do a few things on this map.
1. Spawn on the island and get in motion early, rather than waiting for the UKR side to move up all of their stuff.
2. Get on to the island in large numbers at one of the less obvious locations and take a back flag. There is plenty of territory on the island where a squad can roam around freely. There is lots of cover, so once you settle in with your squad, you can pick a flag to take. You don't have to land AT a flag.
3. Once you have a back island flag, spawn everyone there and spread out.Peace through fear... since 1947!
