An apology for unintended suicide tactic
The other night, I played spec ops and got myself in an uncomfortable situation on Spies. I got close to watermill, ran myself out of nades trying to fend off attackers, laid down C4 behind shed with the intention of getting away quickly, then as I backed away found myself under attack as enemy found me earlier than expected. CLICK.... C4 blew. I
So, my apologies to all that lost a ticket due to C4. I should have been further away, and probably shouldn't have attempted C4 in that situation at all. Adrenaline got the best of me.
Stupid stuff like this bugs me until I apologize. I'm a softy in RL.

Re: An apology for unintended suicide tactic
No big deal. I'm sure if I got startled like that I would have hit my mouse button too blowing up the C4. If it wasn't intentional then there's no need for an apology.

I can't count the number of times I threw down C4 in a hurry..."click, click, click, click, cli....boom!"

Re: An apology for unintended suicide tactic
well if i manage to take more tickets from the enemy when I do that then i'd actually be quite pleased with myself

Re: An apology for unintended suicide tactic
I did something similar last night. Anathemax (sp?) was in an APC, I C4'd his butt, and started running away and he went the same way and I got us both. Similar things happen with RPGs when turning corners, etc. Don't want to hijack the thread to discuss what is and isn't suicide, what's intentional.... : )

Re: An apology for unintended suicide tactic
Clearly it's not. The TG way is to play the game where you place a value on your life. Blowing yourself up when you have an ability to escape is against our rule of Suicide Tactics.

It's important that we hold ourselves responsible for when we recognize that we didn't play the right way. Thank you for the apology MoreGooder.

Re: An apology for unintended suicide tactic
Yes yes understandable but what i mean is when you are in a confined situation with slim or no chance of escape, which therefore contributes to the team if you manage to take more tickets than your team loses. I understand the rule concerning suicide tactics, however i am under the impression that the role of squads is to primarily WIN THE GAME whilst also playing coherently as a unit supporting each other and more importantly enjoying themselves.

Re: An apology for unintended suicide tactic
Let me slow you down as your not going to get anywhere by attempting to poke holes in the rules. As spec ops you have other tools that will allow you to take opponents tickets without having to suicide needlessly. You have 2 different guns and a set of grenades. Fight your way out, then blow the C4 when your out of range. Intentionally suiciding in order to win the game will not earn you respect at TG even if you take a couple enemies with you.

Re: An apology for unintended suicide tactic
ok right-o, so the suicide is worse than attempting to fight even if you get killed or in the C4 case kill the enemies

Re: An apology for unintended suicide tactic
What lucky is saying is, you have other weapons/ammo at your disposal. Use them up first in if you are in a crowded situation before you start tossing C4 at your feet. Fight as you must, but suicide is a far, far distant last option.
Think of it this way if it'll help:
TG's rules are there to encourage a near-life simulation in a war game. Very few, if any, soldiers of "Western" or Soviet bloc armies in real life will toss satchel charges around to blow themselves up and hope to take a few OPFOR with them. Most will lay their arms down and put their hands up and hope that a gracious enemy will take them in as PoWs where Geneva conventions might still save their butts. Leave the suicide tactics to insurgents (not modeled in PoE2).

Re: An apology for unintended suicide tactic
ok good perspective, its just I believe that one of the great things about the game is that you can do these actions and not suffer in real life.
but yep, i get your point, ill leave it there.

Re: An apology for unintended suicide tactic
Well, the real life suffering is that you could be banned off our servers. As a TG Tagged player it's expected that you have read and understood our rules. If you have questions about them pm an admin. I would advise re-reading the rules in every one of the games you play just to make sure. While suiciding can happen unintentionally, and I certainly appreciate Moregooder manning up to say it was a poor decision, you should not rationalize the act with whether or not you took another soldier with you. Find another way.
