Re: cv-22 osprey
But are they practical in a game like Project Reality? Nah.
To be honest, if you want the thrill of jumping out of a plane, pay out some cash and do it. I assure that you'll enjoy it and then never ever want to do it again ![]()

Re: cv-22 osprey
Unless you're crazy and like jumping out of perfectly good airplanes
.And I guess while it's not practical, it would be pretty cool. Maybe a one-time thing on a map where one team jumps in until they secure points on the ground? It would be teamwork-oriented if you had someone flying the plane, maybe have that be a spawn point that spawns on at a remote location (Yeah, it would have to be a big map, I know, something Kashan or bigger but not flat.). I wonder if the suggestion has been made before?

Re: cv-22 osprey
<---is crazy and has over 100 jumps out of perrfectly good aircraft.
As far as the HALO jumps go, it would be interesting to see, but the sheer amount of time it would take to get a squad up to a high altitude and then jump, then finish their descent in a nice slow fashion with the parachutes, then get set up and organized on the ground...its both dizzying and seems like a waste of time that could be better spent on an actual assault (note, i'm thinking that a squad given 2 vodniks and a good driver could go the same distance, get set up, wiped out, and go back for a second try before the HALO squad got there once).

Re: cv-22 osprey
Yeah but I (and probably most people) play PR also for the 'buzz' that you get when teamwork just, works. It is so nice to watch something impressive and coordinated like a good ambush or heli insertion/extract. I think that a well executed squad parachute jump would be equally good to watch. There is the problem of the people on the ground shooting them as they float down though...

Re: cv-22 osprey
as long as they don't switch mid-air to plane mode.....i have yet to see a osprey fly without crashing, even in transformers they had osprey's (why i dont know, it was a air force spec ops unit) but they were flying in helicopter mode.

Re: cv-22 osprey
They SHOULD put my bird in the air on here! I will give them all the help they need with some great sound files..... I just got excited :-) We could fly 25 guys to the zone with the new GAU .50 Cal from FN blazing from both windows and the tailgun with Lcpl. Shmuckatelly feeding you box after box of Skittle rounds.

Re: cv-22 osprey
The PR team should have an Airbourne type map. US spawn really high in the air and parachute down to the ground. High enough that they can land almost anywhere would be good. IRL they don't drop 5 feet from the ground and land right where they jumped (for PR it would be spawned). It would be pretty damned cool I think.

Re: cv-22 osprey
but the thing is, in PR only pilots have parachutes......so there would have to be a mod added to the mod already in place...ha.
DoorGunner I am with you, a Super Jolly Green Giant, could pack some firepower and upon landing while the guns open up, the back opens up while troops dismount, and a .50 cal humvee or grenade launching humvee rolls off providing extra support fire. or just troops. But a CH-53e would be awesome....much better than a chinook. (don't ask me why they keep updated models of it, i think its a death trap to begin with.) |

ha....i actually laughed....well in that case, forget the humvee just leave the marines in there sandwiched together..... Thats still funny though, that the vehicle would squish the infantry and those inside could only switch seats if it were available in order to stay out of the humvees way. will the osprey have weapons on it? or will it just be a moving huge target that lands really slowly and has propellers. |

Re: cv-22 osprey
Hmm, maybe an M134 mounted on the rear ramp (Giving the copilot a purpose for opening the ramp!

Re: cv-22 osprey
I've filled up the interior of the merlin with guys before (using the ramp), but by the time you've taken off you've got six lovely teamkills and probably a swift kick from the server

Re: cv-22 osprey
Those CH-53e's are a sight to behold. The sound from the ground is the real sweetness...makes a blackhawk sound like your 1st car starting up after a night on the town.
As for HALO in PR, and I think Skud can speak to this, there have been, at times, a renegade squad of HALO assaulters, popping red smoke as they drop from the sky, pistols out, and behind enemy lines.....still like to see BR files of that! |
