Re: pet peeves of pr
--Nr 4 Loud-mouthed Medic bashing.
The rule of thumb here is: the less you do for your squad, the more you bitch on the medics. These are always the player that seemed to be mute when you asked for a medic. It's the least popular and arguably the most difficult class in PR. Have some patience with these true team-players that are doing their best. Maybe their cat is walking over the keyboard like mine often do. --Nr 3 The following conversation. (me) "OK no-one take sniper or specops without permission" (me) "Hey squadmember uberkillerhomophobe, how come you have a sniper in your hands?". (him) "Eh I picked it up from a dead guy" (me) "Sigh,*reaches through the voip to bitch-slap him*" ---Nr 2 The inability to have a support gun in my squad PR at ALL times. This must be changed to allow RL tactics. The riflemen have the zoom advantage anyway so you won't see all the 1337 players with a saw; they'll take the riflemen-laser instead. ---Nr 1 With considerable lead: The idea in 97% of the players that 1 single squad is enough to defend a flag, while all the others attack.--- How hard headed must one be to persist in this, when you know with 97% certainty that the other team is sending maybe even ALL their squads to attack. It sucks to always be overrun by multiple squads, it sucks that this state of affairs makes the bunkers useless and a pure waste of tickets (occasional exceptions excluded). Good thread, it's a light-hearted alternative to the endless stream of "server going downhill"-threads.

Re: pet peeves of pr
.People who's main goal it is to shoot your chopper with their LAT/HAT
.People in Attack choppers who specifically hunt down transport choppers (its just immoral!) .AA Emplacements that no one knows about .Imaword .People who wait on the Helipad with you, get to the chopper before you and then flip it.... .People who know where the 50Cal. is (on all maps) and refuse to tell anyone. cough* Skud*Cough .People who fire at your chopper instead of using the commo rose to ask for a pickup .People who get mad becaus you cant pick them up because theyre surrounded by six enemey squads and 4 fixed AA emplacements. .People who dont get out of the chopper when you hover over land. 10 times worse when you get shot down because of this. .Waiting for the Apache for 20 minutes and then getting shot down Immediately! I feel better now.... |

Re: pet peeves of pr
Reading thru this I noticed a trend... It seems that 99% of these pet peeves of pr i this thread ... are actually pet peeves of people playing pr.. not with the game itself.. just an observation

Re: pet peeves of pr
lol @ all the heli pilots rushing to defend their fav heli
I think that heli is ok because its very vunerable. Its slow (the chinese heli has a top speed that is twice as fast) and the cab is open at the sides. It can be downed with 1 pistol shot to the pilots head, in theory at least. In practise you need to fire on it with a splash damage weapon because of hit boxes, ping, etc. That explains the crazy flying prehaps, its a slight exploit of hitboxes so fuzz has a point I guess To be fair Ive also found running in zig zags when on foot can help also with avoiding distance shots. Bunny hopping obviously is banned but also effective for similar reasons. Ive even zig zagged in an apc & other vehicles to disappear into the mist and avoid enemy fire I know there is a possible solution for the infantry side of this maybe but as to helis Im not sure. AA, APC guns are like a touch of death allready, helis are weak for sure if a hit registers. 50 cal is also effective I dont think you could blame the pilots for trying to stay alive by any means, maybe less reliability or predictablity with their handling and damage. Im not sure bf2 could do this but 1 shot in the wrong place should make it terrible to fly. At the moment its got the silly hp system and pr in their wisdom have tried to replicate systems failure as the hp is reduced. If theres any way to expand on that and make it less linear & more random, it might help Or maybe the oppisite, make the heli slow and predictable or fast changes in direction less possible & less easy to control. I think bf2 physics may be reaching its limits and people are just playing it like the computer game it is tbh My own conclusion ( I know I waffle on The only heli that can dodge or avoid a nicely placed AAA thats protecting a base, is an Apache by using hellfire from 1000m away Reenable AA lock on Littlebirds? It is harder anyway to use the helis tactically then the tanks which is one reason why the Qwai map conclusion is a bit predictable - a pet hate (not the map, the bias). Kudos to any co who makes office a fortress to combat that I will say Mountains are my #1 pet hate as its not ever going to change. That annoying thing when you can climb 90% of a hill then stall and slide all the way down like its ice or something and die from falling damage. Jabal is a good map but I hate it sometimes #2 immediate spawn death - #3 too few players for the map size. I guess I must be an arcadey player but I prefer compact maps like how pheonix is now and how kashan is not (except those two central flags). RIP Inishail Forest & steel thunder, casualties of an ever improving game #4 engineers spawning on a damaged apc thats asking for repairs then changing kits immediately and walking away . To a lesser extent also, being surrounded by riflemen but cant get ammo #5 insurgent mines dont have a warning marker. Carefull you dont kill your teammates.. #6 delibrately or extreme stupidly sabotaging your own teams chances. Driving a spawn car into the river Civilians who 'surrender' on purpose#7 dying because my ping is one tenth of second or more then the enemy. I duck behind a wall and get shot after. It happens so often I have to account for it and use lots of distance attacks. It is good practise though because you have to try to anticipate everything, rushing in is bad with high ping #8 Infantry AA that gives a lock on tone when its 3000m away, its actual range is 750m Last edited by Sabre_Tooth_Tigger; 11-12-2007 at 12:12 PM. |

Re: pet peeves of pr
When i do something stupid and then feel dumb about it.
When you are running along and come up to a little curb in the road, or a tiny raise in elevation, and have to jump and waste half your energy. When you can see the enemy and can't spot them because the spotting mechanism sucks. Squadmembers who talk WAY too much...and this may even be me some times. Running, hiding, and maneuvering for several minutes and seeing an enemy rally point in front of you, ripe for a stabbing, and getting teamkilled by a friendly sniper. (Happened to me twice in a row on Al Jabi or whatever that big map with the bridge and damn is called) |

Re: pet peeves of pr
1. AAS. I have always hated it and I always will.
2. People using voip that constantly need to talk, whine, announce whatever. The only one talking most of the time is the SL. I don't want to hear "omgerz I died" or "there is a guy there!" or just random chatter. It is so distracting, no one cares and it doesn't help. Do us a favor and eat your mic, I would rather you don't have one. 3. Lack of transport from one position to the next. 4. Inability of the SL to get everyone the kits they need due to logistic problems with the QM system etc. 5. High performance requirements of PR make it now unplayable for me.
