Re: Bring back Kashan 64 for PW night
Kashan 64 will be put at the end of the rotation for password night tomorrow. We will not play it unless there are enough people on, or enough people want to play it. Sound good?
If it ends up taking ridiculously long we can always end the map prematurely.

Quote:
In case if you people have forgotten, the Battlefield series is known for its combined-arms combat. This is why games like Battlefield 2 are so good. They have integrated the armor/air/infantry elements into a game that creates an environment in which everything is used at once. PR has taken this further by introducing a more realistic approach to the combined arms phenomena. Only reason why people are complain is because the AA weapons are underpowered at the moment. The missiles have low chance of actually hitting anything. So the OpFor team has to rely their fighters to keep enemy attack aircraft suppressed. Otherwise you have cocky pilots performing airshows in between dogfights |

Haha, yeah the AA missiles in the game right now kinda look like they're barely beating gravity. Right now we might aswell have a meatball launcher to attack helos and planes. Hm, I think I'll go draw up some plans for that meatball launcher right now.

The cannon on the fighter is more than sufficient to scare the crap out of the CAS planes.

Re: Bring back Kashan 64 for PW night
Yep two of them, AIM9?
I remember one of the first times I played PR was on oman and I chased down an enemy bomber in my cobra and shot him down with hydras ![]() ![]() Here we go, the long missile at the top is the aim9 or sidewinder. AA, tracks heat signatures so was funny to use on old basra with petrol bombs and who knows may work with flares in future? The yellow striped ones are the hellfires, the tv guided missile used by the gunner. A 1 hit kill on everything, 2 to destroy a bridge I think Then that thing on the wing that looks like a cannon is actually where the 30 odd hydras go, much smaller. It takes about 20+ to kill a tank, so if you ever see a cobra dive on a tank firing these tell him to use the heli properly Chain gun at the front, and flares appear from nowhere. Thats the total armaments for any of the big helis |

Re: Bring back Kashan 64 for PW night
I never get to play PW night, so I don't really care which maps are on. I had one chance this sunday and all the server did, was crash...
The problem with Kashan 64 imo: - lasts waaay too long - too many people at the airfield doing nothing, cept fighting over who gets to fly - tanks are useless - AA is useless - once air domination is achieved by one team, fun is over for the other team I 've rarely seen a balanced game on that map... instead what I see every single time is people flaming eachother for flying a jet . |

Re: Bring back Kashan 64 for PW night
xcannon says go back to CS.....nice touch.
I have NOT forgotten that the BF series provides COMBINED ARMS COMBAT.....However the combined arms are SUPPOSED to be somewhat equal with advantages AND disadvantages. The jets in PR are unbalanced, and if you can deny that, then the discussion is done. If you can AGREE to that then you have to agree that the planes are untouchable. AA is ineffective....a well know fact. AA is supposed to be a threat to jet piplots, not make them giggle. Flying jets that are untouchable is not in the game makers intention I am sure....it probably was an oversight. If it is fixed in .7...awesome. Until then those that wish to fly jets are asking the rest of the server to be target pratice since all weapons are useless against them. The only threat they have are the fighters....and that depends on many factors as well. KASHAN though is movement based, and relies on vehicles...which happen to be the primary target of the jets. Honestly- I'll play either way....really not that big an issue.....but the point the pilots are trying to prove in ridiculous. Anyone who has fired an AA missle knows that you might as well spit into the air....This request is equal to being in an old KNIFE only server in vanila, and YOU want to be the only one who gets a PKM. |

Re: Bring back Kashan 64 for PW night
Again, we will try it tonight, and if it turns into a slaughterfest then we can end the map prematurely. As someone mentioned earlier its only going to be on two times a week at most, its not that big of a deal.

Re: Bring back Kashan 64 for PW night
I have had some success with manpads before now, do not fire before they flare up. Its a game of bluffing I reckon and most pilots are scared senseless of AA even if it is crap
