Re: PR Dev Journal.

maybe they'll fix the insurgency bug this time. Thats very, very, very wishful thinking right there.

Re: PR Dev Journal.

I'm withholding judgement until I see how many maps will actually work without crashing the server, lol.

Re: PR Dev Journal.

The gameplay bugs should be tried and tested and tested again until everything is ironed out, then insert new jets, vechicles etc. I understand the Devs do this in their own time, and we all owe them a lot of gratitude and thanks for bringing PR as a free add-on to the bf2 realm.

I would like to see the new Army Armored vehicle introduced, I forgot the name off of the top of my head.

Or the gun trucks spec ops teams are using in afghanistan, a british and u.s. model.

Jets might be a interesting gameplay function however it would be nice for some other land based vehicles/guns to be added.

I heard they are working on a chinook version (it could be a nice addition to US and brit forces since the brits do use them extensively in afghanistan, though it might cause more lag than the merlin)

Having a Kiowa recon heli would be a really nice addition especially with the extended hud/camera on top of the rotors, to spot enemy troops and armor/vehicle movements.

I only wish my computer design techniques were better, because the best i can do on MS Paint is chicken scratch.

Do you mean the Stryker Vehicle they use in Iraq right now?

I would love recon heli in the game instead of little birds for large armor based maps that have attack heli support. Then their could actually be recon going on, spotting and laser targets from additional air vehicles.

And ditto on the design skills. I would love to help a mod team like PR in vehicle/weapon/object modeling but I have zero experience in that field.

Re: PR Dev Journal.

All the scout class helis can laser target. When you are a passenger, press 2 and you get a black and white screen, left click to target & I think C zooms in

Littlebird or kiowa is just a case of graphics and models, the lb can do that job right now

If it wasnt so easy for tanks to point and shoot down helis on kashan Im sure it would be an actively used feature

Re: PR Dev Journal.

Harrier looks sweeeet. Its a mixture of heli and jet=perfect!

Model looks similar to the one in Allied inten, and seems to rise and fall in the exact same manor.

Re: PR Dev Journal.

with all these new maps coming out and the new jets and helos PR is going to slowly turn back into vanilla with some server's names becoming 24/7 PR AIRMAPS ONLY

Re: PR Dev Journal.

We already have those dude, Look at TB and BA which run 24/7 insurgency servers. More maps will just provide a bit more variety. I think it's going to boil down to having a large map selection and having to pick the right maplist to match the server population.

Re: PR Dev Journal.

true but i was meaning like 10 maps that had air assets that the server would run 24/7 with no variation i love they way the TG PR admins spice up the map rotation every week or so it adds so much variation to the game

Re: PR Dev Journal.

yeah Mnam i agree, i like that the sever is kinda of mixed up. A few inf/transport heli maps then one jet map. its a good inf-vehicle ratio

However when he had to leave to begin his training for the Royal Marines he asked me if I would take over development of the map (he has recently earnt his green beret having sucessfully completed the Commando courses, so massive congratulations to him on that one!).

Since then I've been working on the map, adding new cps, new areas, expanding the island, changing the sky, adding detail etc etc. Its an interesting process because you have to try and get into the mind of the previous mapper and work out what they want to achieve and then apply your own ideas in a manner that would fit. I've had numerous discussions with Duckhunt during the time I've been working on it (about a year now) to make sure he was happy with the work. He also gave me new ideas along the way and together we've pulled it through. I've also got help from [R-DEV]Rhino who as ever is there to offer help and support to the mapping team, sorting out the object lightmaps in 3DMAX, making up some custom statics etc.

I look forward to seeing you there soon

Don't forget to pack your suntan lotion soldier!

Here are some additional screenshots:
