Re: PR Dev Journal.
will they keep the old maps with the others faction???
cause thats much maps with german faction on it ,are they shifting towards a ''german force mods'' or something, i hope not
the german vs taliban maps are fine, but german vs russia???? no very realistic in my opinion, this almost looks like another mod.

Re: PR Dev Journal.
I think that post from the TTP Forums is assuming/guessing/speculating alot about Factions on certain maps and such.
I know for sure that Feyzabad was offered to the German Faction, but I don't know if it was a done deal. Probably not.

Its also been a while since I've posted any information on this one, so now seems like a good time to bring you all up to speed. If you missed the original Dev Journal Entry on the map you can find it here:
http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f316...angin-wip.html
A lot of the detail has yet to be added, compounds have not yet been fully built, object lightmaps have not been run, and most of what you see is subject to change ( all of the grass etc you currently see in the fields will be replaced using Rhino's new overgrowth field technique and will include a greater variety of crops/grass). I also have some pretty exciting ideas regarding gamemodes, which will of course all be geared towards making this the most realistic gaming experience possible. More details on those will be released at a later date.
A WIP minimap:
( The lightly coloured green areas to the south and east indicate roughly where new fields still have to be added, ignore the objects in the top left and bottom right as they will not be included)
Some ingame screenshots:
I also encourage you to imagine seeing Stigger's amazing RAF Chinook HC2 flying around... :
I have quite a few more suprises left with this one, stay tuned for further updates later this year.

Re: PR Dev Journal.
Sangin definitely looks a step up from Kashan. More places for infantry to hide from tanks and APCs yet still wide open spaces for tanks to battle between without getting caught in city streets. These maps are just getting better and better.
I'd love to see a mix between Sangin and Asad Khal.

Re: PR Dev Journal.
Hmm, thats pretty wicked but hard to tell if its real. I was reading some of the comments and lots of people have different ideas.
This guy seemed to have the best answer.
Quote:
FGS. So simple. The camera's electronic shutter is set at the same frequency as the blade rotation.
Unbelievably simple to do.
The frame rate of the camera is no different than any other camera - it is the shutter that matters.

Then again this guy said something too
Quote:
Alright, you go up high then fast, once you are going really fast you glide and it has some "jet engine" but smaller and enough to make it fly!!!!!!
Simple but cool!

Curious......

Re: PR Dev Journal.
Shutter speed matching the speed of the rotors.
First, you can hear the rotors.
However, much more importantly, it comes down to how helicopter blades actually work and keep the helicopter in the air (here's a hint - it's the same thing that keeps airplanes up).
Here's some homework:
Bernoulli's Principle
Principles of rotary flight
When the engine quits, this is what happens:

Re: PR Dev Journal.
I remember having the debate in physics class about whether or not the Bernoulli equation could adequately define lift, as the last part of the wikipedia article pointed out. My professor was adamantly against it, but I do miss those debates, and I certainly do miss college.
