I've posted about this elsewhere but I just wanted to add my agreement to the comments about the weapons. After some rounds I'm practically deaf from the Nade spam. As for the rifles, well, I used to pretty much only play infantry and loved using the M14, that's been trashed in my opinion. The Brit rifle, used to love it, some days I can hit stuff like before on single shot other days it just seems totally random. On Auto even using controlled bursts (2 or 3 rounds) its woefully inaccurate. This may seem stupid but the actual round seems to lose power (on auto) as well. Lost track of how many times I have seen confirmed(visually) rounds hit my target only for me to be taken down by a single retaliatory shot.

G3 kicks like a broken chainsaw. M16 Acog, some days I love it others I have to stick to the iron sights. I used to be able to shoot a bit now it seems random to me. Personally I think the developers have tried to factor in too much. Yet none of this seems to have addressed the Insta proners and breakdancing divers that seem to be back on the increase.

Sadly I have to say that, to some degree, it is actually ruining the game for me.
I appreciate this post stinks of sour grapes and I should probably just knuckle down but some rounds leave me so frustrated that I end up complaining in text chat or logging off. Don't want to be that sort of player but man do I lose my temper over this occasionally.

I'm gonna have a cold one and a smoke now to chill out lol.

You think the guns are bad? Try being a medic with absolutely no indicator of where downed teammates are unless theyre right in front of you or can give you some REALLY good landmark to navigate by and then getting whined at by teammates who refuse to play medic and have absolutely no idea how ridiculously tough the kit got in 0.7. Talk about getting frustrated.

Im not sure if caps lock shows the old 'revive me' symbol but the M key should, I know medic is tough thats why they are so rare now

The problem is sabre, that it only shows it for about two seconds, so if your map isnt already open, you're out of luck. Plus, unless youre the SL, you cant mark their position anyway.

I think the biggest problem with nades is the sound bug... OGT is worst at this where you hear them everywhere but barely see them.

I hate what they did to the accuracy... even when proned for 5 seconds without moving, the scoped rifles shoot random near the target. People now tend to grap a grenade launcher whenever they can. I still see lots of dive + headshot combo's, especially with the SAW, so I got my fingers crossed for a patch to resolve this ****.

Playing as infantry becomes less and less fun in this mod... hence you see so many dedicated vehicle squads. Nearly all the good infantry maps are gone and replaced by huge, vehicle based maps. Add to this the 4 hour rounds and I 'll find myself playing other games more often.

So it wasn't just this old medic having a "senior moment" during the only round of 0.7 he's played as medic (my default inf kit)!

I thought I was loosing my frelling mind when I couldn't find my SL when he got hit... Having the graphics maxed out so that bodies almost disappear in long grass didn't help at all. Depending on how generous PRM is feeling, the sound of the wounded soldier's cries of "Medic!" may or may not be coming from the correct direction..

Of course, it's even worse playing as a MEC or PLA medic where the lingistically challenged (like myself) don't know what "Medic!" is in Farsi or Mandarin and therefore have zero chance of getting to wounded from other squads unless they give accurate location info over the Team Co-ord channel on TS or you trip over them..

now as medic i started to stop engaging - i ll wait behind a ridge untill the squad gets taken out by a granade spam - smoke em - and rush to not find em b/c they dont show on the map anymore

brits medic kit "Combat Medic, on call!" - lol i can only kill ppl if they are at point blank range and i do NOT iron sight! - (SAW and M16-ACOG are too accurate - rest could stay as it is imho) - SAW has less recoil than G3

edit: oh yeah - less nades for a kit would be nice too

Although it may be true that grenades are an important part of CQC, etc., it SERIOUSLY worries me when I run into a single infantry on top of a hill, we both line up shots, I hit him once, he goes behind the crest of a hill, and what do I see coming towards me? Boom. This is the type of garbage I loathed in BF2. Sure you could argue that grenades are effective in assaulting a position, but its just ridiculous when you see them being abused because the weapons are not as effective as they once were. This coupled with close coordination of squads thanks to the loss of the minimap, can really ruin my experience as you could imagine.

me saying its a good idea doesnt mean its gonna be in, i just think its a good way to cut back that kind of unrealistic habit on every enemy contact (drop prone, toss a few nades)... at very least the range should be greatly reduced while prone at least.
actually brit army (some guys i know in the army) said they were trained in prone to throw nades as well as other stances, so but yer i agree with the range

i like to throw a Flashbang as a SL, then have my guys toss some nades, then go in.

In some cases, i will throw a FB, then nades, Then FB them again with a nade or two after, then go in, thats only if i suspect more than one saw in the vicinity, or if i a guy is hiding behind a wall.

I'm not a fan of the smoke grenades unless I am rushing across a wide open space, it only invites more firepower.

Ghost Dog i sympathize with you, with the sound glitch....turns out not everyone has this problem, either our sound cards are excellent or we just have good hearing....ha.

Guys, just compare the vBF2 rifles to the PR rifles, you'll be happy they are like this. Although it seems like the game went from 0.6 to 0.5 (not saying 0.5 was bad, just a step down). I agree the devs went a little too far with the deviation and if they want it to be Project Reality they need to make it realistic. Which also means imbalanced armies and NO MEC. I hate how the armies are balanced out so much, in reality there are trade offs to the armies. For instance, the Marines are known as the best infantry fighters due to their training and aggressiveness. Whereas the Chinese military has power in numbers. You see where I am going with this? The teams shouldn't be mirror images but have trade offs instead.

I saw that they were discussing raising the distance to 50m for squad markers. The ones you toggle with ALT, green arrows showing squadies.

does the revive symbol show on there maybe

asymmetric maps are harder to balance and no much enjoys playing on a team that will always lose
