Re: Do you play all the way through maps?

I usually join mid game and play a round and a half. I usually tend to skip huge long maps like Kashan if I am not there from the very beginning.

Re: Do you play all the way through maps?

I generally play all the way through maps unless I've been playing a long time and I CTD. But it's generally 4-5 hours of play time before I'm ready to DC.

No, I rarely get to play through an entire map.

I tend to join partway through a map and then have to leave partway through the next map... If the rounds were shorter, I might be able to finish a complete map!

Re: Do you play all the way through maps?

I usually join and play through a few maps all the way. The only time I disconnect in the middle of a map (regardless of how long it takes) is if there is some sort of emergency or problem I need to check out. I for one love the long maps. You really get to depend on your squad mates and can really get into a map. I'm used to playing weekend long Airsoft matches, so a 4 hour map is nothing to me. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I have no problems whatsoever with defending a position for an hour and a half or more. I'm in it to win, or go down kicking and screaming until the end.

Re: Do you play all the way through maps?

A week or so ago, during the day, I played through what must have been a good 3 to 4 hour map. I wound up SL and finished it out. So then I took a break for the next map, came back over an hour later and that map was still on, I joined in and my SL bailed, boom, SL again...I asked someone to take it and told them the situation, but you know how that goes sometimes.

Short answer:yes, stay in, leave no one behind.

Re: Do you play all the way through maps?

If I'm SL I play to the end, or until the wife gives me that look. If I'm in a bad squad I might leave early if they are bad enough. I'm a rather patient person. If I'm in a good squad and my wife gives me that look. I give her those puppy dog eyes and hope it buys me some time. *grins*

Re: Do you play all the way through maps?

I normally play for a certain period of time eg 7-10 pm. If that falls with a full round then so be it. I avoid being squad leader if I will have to go partway through the round, so I avoid SL on Kashan, Quinling etc big maps because I don't want to quit halfway through. I haven't been SLing much because those maps are in play when I am.

Re: Do you play all the way through maps?

I hear the "wife pulling me away" thread throughout this posting. Perhaps we should have a good forum discussion on how wives limit gaming time and if they let husbands play enough or too much :-)

Join in the middle, play a few rounds, then hopefully a graceful exit.

playing all the way through, only quitting on map change (kicks for SMember, Router reconnects, or others will only make me rejoin )

I'll play a round through to it's end even if we're getting trounced. If I don't appear in the next round, it's usually because it's past my bed time .

Re: Do you play all the way through maps?

I play till I remember to look at the time and realize its midnight and I got to get up in 5 hours for work. Or, like last night, my connection drops. (Famous last words "Goatboy, I'll be there(your location) in 1 minute"<DROP>.

I am in wholehearted agreement with anyones who says the games last too long. 3 hours for a map is usually tedious. You are going to fall into a rut over a flag, a situation, or something. Not going to say always, sometimes with a good squad and a competitive game, its great. But I'd like to cap it a 2 hours. Especially since I have played the last 4 nights for several hours but only have played a total of 5 or 6 maps, and not the new Quining.

Re: Do you play all the way through maps?

I can usually play for a few hours at a time, as my job has sort of a weird schedule. I hate leaving in the middle at all, and especially if I am a SL. The only time I SL if I think I'm going to have to leave is if it falls in my lap (SL disconnects). Had a round yesterday on Kufrah where I was in DEADLIE1's squad and our team was getting pounded. We were horribly disorganized. DEADLIE stepped up to CO so I stepped up to SL. I glanced at the clock; I didn't have to work for an hour and a half. Good deal. We defended refinery tenaciously until I got sick of the rest of the team not doing anything (except the single tank crew who took on FOUR enemy tanks at once and came out unscathed, hot damn!). I told DEADLIE "I'm gonna do something stupid" and loaded my guys up in a 5-ton and booked it up to production. The five of us capped it and cleared a few RPs from the area without any support from the team, and the game started to turn in our favor. I was really starting to have fun when I looked at the clock and I had ten minutes to be at work (a 15 minute drive). I apologized profusely to the squad and made sure the new SL got my O-kit before I ALT-F4'd. I HATE doing that as a SL but it happens.
