Re: Please bring back Qinling 64
We just played Qinling 64 and it was like trying to run a kindergarten classroom. LOL. As CO I must have spent the first 5 minutes handling everybody's complaints about people "stealing their helicopter", "so-and-so isn't letting me in his squad", etc. I also noticed that we only had one infantry squad at the beginning.
Playing that kind of map takes a LOT of teamwork and a LOT of practice. Case in point, I think we went through three jet squads because they all crashed and disconnected. I also had a jet squad that didn't know how to use laser-guided munitions and he thought he could only engage air-to-air. I don't have a perfect answer, but I ask that everyone try to remember that their actions affect the team.... so if you want to use specialty assets (jets, helos, tanks, etc.) please practice and mentor under someone that is experienced before you take it out on your own. And if there aren't enough infantry squads, please create one. They are still the foundation of warfare.

Howdy,
I want to thank everyone for their replies and input. And I'm happy to have befriended you gijoe! Yep, I certainly believe in pilots rights. And I'd really like/hope to see the server running more than just one map that has 'em!Thanks again everyone for your responses and opinions, and I do mean everyone. ![]() Cheers |

-2 man locked squad "Apache" - 2 man "Transport" squad -5-6 man "Spec Ops" squad (Atrocious) - 3-4 man locked Jet Squad -4, thats right, FOUR whole squads dedicated to armour - 1 Infantry squad. Bloody ridiculous. Armour squads were infighting, "We waited for that tank! Commander, tell squad 4 thats our tank!" I got so pissed off, I left. I am only a bloody commander, not an admin. I do not have any power to "kick" people. When I'm playing a bloody game I do not feel the need to call upon my "Conflict-resolution/Negotiation" skills. TG is supposed to be for mature gamers, alas, Qinling 64 seems to bring out the worst in people, and I'm sorry to say, even TG tag holders. Similarly for Kashan, but atleast Kashan has an "Infantry" zone (Bunker complex), so you see 3-4 good INF squads. I have stopped commanding altogether now. I rarely step up to lead anymore. I used to like doing it. The commander bug, coupled with the lack of INF squads and everyone thinking they have the right to command and pester me for "assets," has turned me completely off the role. On the bright side, now that the commander bug has been fixed, perhaps I won't feel as helpless anymore ![]() In my opinion, Qinling can be made more enjoyable by: - Making the map smaller. - Do not have 8 tanks spawn in at roundstart. If all 8 are manned by 2 man crews, even at the start, thats 16 people in armour, plus 4 people in jets. That leaves room for 2 five-man INF squads and 1 Cmndr. Does not work. Have the tanks spawn in "waves" Have only 3 tanks at roundstart instead of 8. That way, we have a 6 man Armour squad plus 1 "3manTank" squad. In my opinion, atleast 20/31 should be regular Infantry in any PR map. In my opinion, the DEVS have gone too "epic" with Qinling. This post is just a reminder that a team has, after all, just 31 players and is limited to 9 squads. |

Re: Please bring back Qinling 64
While I think Qinling is not suited for airplanes AT ALL (and agree there shouldn't be planes flying around), I don't think we need to go home
![]() To be honest, Qinling looks so much more like a map for helos, it was a terrible idea for Rhino to even think of putting planes/airfields on that map.

Re: Please bring back Qinling 64
I often join another server just to be able to play some of these maps, if I 'm lucky I get a good squad going. There are only few maps I really enjoy on TG... Qwai is one of em and still the best map imo.
PR needs more dedicated mappers, 4 new maps/year is not enough especially if half that number is dropped every time a new version comes out. Skud, I couldn't agree more but I 'd find it very unfortunate if that 'd be the reason why these maps are no longer on TG. I can't judge which version plays best but I prefer the 64 over 32. |

Re: Please bring back Qinling 64
Right now we are running Quiling 64 on password nights only, much like we used to run Kashan 64 on password nights. Expect it to stay this way now, but maybe we'll throw the 64 version on rotation in time for the scrim
.
