Whats the best and quickest way to know a grid. I currently run with my map always up, but very transparent. I can't see the grid unless I hit caps lock, which takes a second to load and is the usually the time when I am head shot.

Also, if this becomes widespread, I would suggest dropping the "numpad", making it just "G49"

I can see one of us using this in real-life... on a map or other gridded element.. Everyone looks back, raising their eyebrows ... like we are complete idiots.

Works great though, a lot faster to process - and type, IMO

How about "G4-K9"? This differentiates between the grid and the sub-grid (keypad) nicely.

funny thing is I heard somebody reference exactly that the other day.. and First I thought it was curious that they used two references, then I was like, wait a minute, there is no K column..

A true military grid system would do WONDERS for spot reporting now that spotting is gone for below SL. Simply X and Y axis numbers starting at 1 for both X and Y.

But yeah, if enemy was in 3-4 (X-Y) and you wanted to be more precise...you would say 35-43. (Half way in between 3 and 4, about a 3rd above 4) Is this a little over the head of common PR players? What do you think?

I heard someone using this back in early .6 - as soon as I heard it I knew what it was and thought it was brilliant.

Ive been using it for awhile, using KP, like g4 kp6

If you just said F6 according to that pic... that would leave room for a whole lot of other positions of the enemy that he ISN'T in

And even distances between each keypad number are usually pretty far, so the more precise you get at guessing where the location is, the more accurate your teammates can be in locating them... instead of looking off in the mountains, or shooting at those bushes on Kashan

I tried this the other night with a squad I was in, I had no responses and I think they must have thought I was crazy. I do hope this catches on to more people. Make things so much easier for communicating to a more detailed location since the grids are so big. The numpad idea I love.

ah i see now! i was asked by an AH pilot to give a numpad location and was racking my mind to try and remember if that was something in the PR guide I should have remembered.

been using in for quite awhile now - when i picked it up back some when in november/december - yeah ppl tend to not respond to it, just keep it up untill they all know

about the military grid: using this is only helpful if the spottet remains stationary otherwise he'd move a little and you'd start calling every 10th grid xD

even on my 21' monitor the numgrid is hard to tell

btw: using "Golf 4, num 9"

By F6, I mean purely where the two lines cross which in this case happens to be fairly near the target and that is good enough.
I'd rather just give a rough position and then later on describe further if nessecery, in that case he is on a bridge so I'd rather name that then any reference to the keypad.

no offence, but then either one of us does something wrong
(F6 is the whole square - any enemy at F6 would be somewhere in side the square not where the lines intersect, imo)

its where the colums meet.. F is a column and 6 is a column..and F6 is the intire box..the lines merely separate the columns
