Re: Death Cam discussion...

I think that is going a little to far with the death cam because we all still have to remember, it is a game. Using your death cam to spot out enemys is lame but we all do it. We are striving for realism, i get it. Somethings people want are things you can only find in real life. With the BF2 engine, we are pushing the limits

Re: Death Cam discussion...

Per Fuzzhead, they can't turn off the death cam for technical reasons, but would you be able to add an affect like a flashbang, bleed out or some other effect that would obscure vision.

just a thought..

Re: Death Cam discussion...

I like it and its not so bad because you would be able to let people know what was happening as you were dying.
I agree its arcadey but a black screen would increase frustration even more then now and my dam respawn time is 60 secs all the time now argh

I dont usually see much of significance really, I allready know roughly where you are unless it was a sniper shot I guess

Re: Death Cam discussion...

I am ok with people using voip when they are critically wounded. They are still technically alive and able to use their mics. Now when you are killed..that is a different story.

Re: Death Cam discussion...

I'm not sure about removing the death cam, it's always fun if you're in the back of a jeep and you get shot out, watching the jeep cruising around getting chased by a tank, or even better, an Apache!

Flashbang effect would go nicely with the death cam I think. It would also make life as a sniper a little easier.

Re: Death Cam discussion...

I think a mic mute would be best when you are killed. I've been a commander that needed to pass on info between squads while dead and was still able to, which is not very realistic. I know you can not access the commander screen while dead but a mic mute would be an even more effective way to silence a dead commander.

Re: Death Cam discussion...

This whole idea is kinda interesting .. Would make things a lot more realistic lol...

Imagine a squad moving up in formation..

"Johnny, keep a check on our 6, ok?"

"Roger dat, Mr. Man!"

"Look's all cl--..."

"Johnny?"

"......"

"...JOHNNY DO YOU COP---?!"

*RATATATATAT*

"...THEY'RE BLOWING US AWAY! FALL BACK!"

Re: Death Cam discussion...

I agree that when the player is dead they should not be able to call out enemy location but when wounded that would be a different story. When wounded they would still be able to let the medics know if it is even safe for them to try to revive them.

Re: Death Cam discussion...

Isn't it a feature of the death cam (in vanilla) that you can jump to another player on your team? That wouldnt be so bad because you could only point out things they should be able to see anyways.

Re: Death Cam discussion...

I think a visually blinding, or limiting the dead players would be effective. Please don't text mute, or VOIP mute the players. It would still happen on TS, or ventrilo, or "ghosting".... Not to mention make teamspeak even more loud and confusing as people yell out "Behind you!"

Re: Death Cam discussion...

I hope this isn't going the way of the boring seagull time in Armed assualt and the the rule that those that die can't even talk. One of the things that made ArmA ultimately boring to me.

If you die, just grab something to eat or whatever, leave the people that abuse spectator mode their pityful joy -no you don't have to because other people may do it- and finally, leave the devs to spend their time on much more important stuff.

How about all the people that ask this start using more real life tactics, instead of demanding more realistic gameplay.

That one element is for sure: the game at this point is much more realistic than the behaviour of people playing it.

Last sunday was the first time in 5 months of PR that someone again asked me to get into a foermation other than the chopper-waiting-line. Kudos to that person!

Re: Death Cam discussion...

Hell, even counterstrike had a "dead" limitation where you could only talk to other dead players. I would be happy with a similar setup.

As Rafter suggested autoswitching to the next player when killed would be the best way to handle it in my opinion. You can still switch once dead by hitting C currently too, so 1 min respawns don't have to be so boring.

if possible that'd be a good compromise.

I think the voip past death thing is another time limitation we have in game, the game happens quicker then our ability to describe it.
Thats not the case in reality so much and keeping it this way is a positive because its more about voip teamplay then any massive or unfair advantage

Re: Death Cam discussion...

Even so, I would imagine that the next BF2 will incorporate some sort of muting of the mic when dead. It really is odd that there isn't some sort of thing like that in place already considering the amount of popular FPS's that came out around the same time that have such a system in place. Naturally the whole TS thing gets around whatever the in game comms can or can't do. But as I said before, it was a general TG rule years ago that you didn't talk after being killed, and that was with the original Ghost Recon and we were on TS.
