That 's what the CO is for right? How I think it should be done:

SM spots firebase -> SM tells SL -> SL tells CO -> CO marks firebase with GPS target, tells all SL's the grid location or commands a single squad to take it out -> SL's tell SM's.

I often command and I 've had several such cases and believe this system works perfect. At least you are sure that everyone gets the message. If you type it in global chat, there 's only a small chance that most people and especially the CO will even see it...

I do mind people filling up the chat with crap, not because they remove relevant information but because they are obviously not doing what they should be doing... playing the game .

Re: Unnecessary In-game chatter

I disagree. As CO, I often keep giving my team updates via Team chat. Thats exactly what the CO text is yellow for: To make it stick out.

When its something the whole team needs to know like firebases or locations of enemy tanks (Especially on Qwai) I use it. Also, I use it once every 10 min to repeat my plan.

IE: Squad 4/3 still holding Government. Squad 5 APCs, Sq6 ToW HMMV, Sq 7/8 attacking Fishing. Will build Firebase in D3.

Or something along those lines.

That goes without saying, but not all co's relay info.. and neither do all sl'ers.

Redundancy is key.. Omitting text-info is not a good idea in my opinion.. i keep my eyes and ears open on the battlefield . Relay the info to your sl, who should then relay back to CO. At the same time, relay the info to your team via text too.

Sometimes in a fight people can't hear things being said to them.. when that happens it's always good to have text to look at after the firefight. Sometimes having it in writing as well as via voice makes the intel stick in people's minds. Having it in writing also makes things seem more important.

I don't know why people keep flaming me about this post :/. I think it's a valid suggestion -_-.

Why you would limit your intel is beyond me z_z

It 's not flaming, just giving opinions .

I 'm just saying what I like best from a personal point of view. I know I barely read any of the chat text in the heat of the battle so that is why I prefer VOIP.

What you suggest is perfectly understandable, people shouldn't be talking about their dog making out with their cat during a game...

Re: Unnecessary In-game chatter

I think a bigger stink is being made over this than needs to be. Any game is going to have some spam chatter but usually TG PR server is not as bad as what most claim. I admit i do overlook the text area some but for the most part I like reading some of the crap that is typed in there and also get some useful info on the game. What I mainly ppay attention to is the idot on the other team that likes typing to the public his squad is located at a certain place and what they are attacking. This makes it so much easier for my team, or at least the ones that paid attention. FOr the most part there is usually at least one person in a squad that has VOiP that did recognize this and let the rest of the squad know. As far as the useless stuff that comes across the text chat, it is a game and just because it says Tactical Gamer does not mean people can not still have fun and talk to others while having that fun, although there is a limit on anything. Best suggestion is ignore the text chat unless SL or Co does not have VOiP then that is the time to pay attention to it. The different color that pops up when the CO talks and when the squad only text pops up should helps when you need to pay attention and read. For the most part it is the color of the text that does draw my attention to it for me to read to see if what is typed in was important.
