Anyone know what the range HAT 'bounces' at. If target is before that range you have to compensate for drop like on RPG and and after that it is guided, but not sure of the distance it switches. HAT needs spotters really
I spent a round of Daqing with Fuzz getting acquainted with the HAT. It seems like the distance you are looking for is between 250-300m. Anything shorter, aim a bit high (but not as high as you would with LAT). Anything longer, aim a bit high, pull the trigger, and then slowly bring the reticle down onto the target. If you are on flat ground and you don't aim a bit high, the projectile will hit the dirt before it begins tracking. If you are firing from an elevated position, you can just aim straight at a distant target. Fuzz told me the arc-then-track is to simulate a soft launch, but I think it needs to be adjusted a bit. It does, however, make the weapon a little more difficult to use, which I don't necessarily think is a terrible thing.

Re: TOW Humvee ??

also, no TOW Humvees should be one manned......just my own opinion unless its dug in well and acts like a reg tow gun, and is in an area where there is a steady flow of enemy vehicles.......but thats just me.

Re: TOW Humvee ??

I would also agree that no TOW Humvee should be one manned. They are so vital on maps such as Quai River when the US side does not get any tanks and the Chinese do.
Kashan they can be so devestating when you and another person ride around so quiclkly popping over hills to see an enemy tank and wipe them out. I see so many people using them just for transport and it has made me quite mad cause after they get where they want to be they just leave them to get blown up or out in the middle of nowhere and it takes half the maps time to get to them, if the enemy doesn't finally just blow them up.

All it does is warn the admins. When we have CC up we have a little program that monitors a chat and gives us a warning when we see key words. !reporting is one of them. Also, when we scan the daily chat logs we just search for "!reporting" and write down the names.

Re: TOW Humvee ??

Kinda related, someone mentioned firing HAT from the cab of a CO truck. Got a picture of the backblast that might occur in that situation

Re: TOW Humvee ??

Even better:

This is the Canadian ERYX missile, which is basically the same as many other similar weapon systems by different names. Note that the large black octagonal ends on the weapon are for packing and not really part of the weapon, lol. It's not a real high quality vid, but does display the weapon quite well and one shot near the end shows the brief but intense back blast.

Re: TOW Humvee ??

I think if youve ever played any fps with a rocket launcher (Ex: Halo) You have the overwhelming urge to find a big cluster of troops and shoot them with the H-at. Im incredibly tempted, but i dont. Partially cause its bad, and partially because i never hit anything

Why would it be against the ROE? I'm not a military guy I'm just wondering if someone can drop a JDAM, why not fire a TOW?

Re: TOW Humvee ??

Theres something about not causing undue suffering to enemy combatants, you'd probably have to ask a specialist lawyer about it
