Yeah this is kind of dumb in a way. Its free to play, but because your cheap, you dont get all the features. Its really not fair to those who cant afford it either because they have no job, just dont wanna pay, and other stuff that would stop people from playing. Its like when there is a game and it really ROCKS then there is a sequal and it sucks in comparisn. The game that sucks, imo will be this new game. Cause its NOT free.

free, don't cost nothing........its worth a look/dl, what do u have to lose? hell if i can get it to run on my work computer....it might be worthwhile......Remember..in a sense PR is free....yes we all bought bf2, however, look at all the "free" mods we are able to DL...and if PR wasn't "free" then.....I would probably have not found my way to PR, and to TG.


Free ain't bad especially with how the economy is......i don't have to put a mortgage on a video game and risk foreclosure.

Except, judging from other "free" games with micropayment schemes..

You pay nothing, but you start the game with an unscoped G3 and no body armor. You're up playing Kashan vs guys who've payed 15-20 dollars every month even though they don't have to. They have body armor, M249 SAWs, a 3-zoom Counterstrike AWP equivalent sniper rifle and no-wait guided HAT with 5 rounds. Go ahead and play against them, to get a scoped G3 you need to score 600 points which requires winning the round and being in the top 3 a couple times with as little deaths as possible, or playing 20-30 rounds with these guys, and if you buy that, you can't afford body armor for your assault class or a medpack for your medic. Though, those guys didn't have to do any of that work, they just had to shell out 15 bucks.

Same things happen on those free 2 play Korean MMOs. The people who shell out 50 bucks a month to buy EXP and stat boosting time limited items and special equipment that never drops in-game work out much better then the guy who spends nothing but plays 20 hours a week.

i didn't read it fully.....ahhh the catch is ironic.....kind of like how time warner cable is trying to implement a so called restriction on unlimitied dl's with timewarner internet, and will be charging people extra if they go over the allotted dl space/capacity.

Though if it is free, it wouldnt be back to use on my work computer....if i can run it....
I guess they are trying in a way to compete with america's army....if only they knew the power of PR (u can say that line in darth vaders voice) then they would know what gamers of the bf2 variety really enjoy. IMHO.

It's just EA scheming and putting more Spyware on our computers.

PR players shouldnt even bother with any BFXX game until there are new PR mods for it. Period.

i was just thinking for something to do at work.......i can't play PR at work, if i could...then...there would be trouble and the people around me would probably ask who i'm talking to and who am i covering and laying down suppressing fire for.

At least you can run things at work without people looking over your shoulder. At my work... lets see. Windows login, no admin access. Remote Administrator and a 3rd party enterprise class remote desktop/viewing software on. Read-only access to most of the harddrive, I haven't even been able to use most simple DOS tools due to "unable to report the status of C:\". Computers have no floppy or CDROM drives, and no standard USB ports, only USB B female for connecting to network printers. They were made to do work, not to do anything else Even the network they run on is completely isolated from the rest of the intranet with a hardware switch, and besides, anyone caught using the internet, if you were able to, faces discipline up to termination.

Of course, I spend at least half my time in the car driving, so obviously don't have access to a computer. But while in the office I can at least browse the intarwebs! (I did get yelled at least week for installing Firefox before getting our service order software up and running...)

Cause I work at a distribution center, not an office environment
90% of the computers, except the ones in the supervisors offices, etc, are for dedicated tasks like running manifesting and invoicing software, database editing, other warehouse software, scanning invoices, etc. Besides, not much point in playing a game when you need to stand up to use them and have no speakers I don't have much time to play games when i need to scan, weigh, process, and ship out a couple thousand packages a day.

EA will find away to mess things up like they did for BF2 vanilla. My team practically quite gaming a few months after dealing with vanilla. POE and PR are the only things that saved BF2 for me.

I know an entire clan that play BF2 and all it's expansions ALL cracked and with the latest patches. I actually use to be one of them then I went out and bought the game and expansions cause I thought there was something more to the game I was missing. I was wrong but still glad I now have legit versions. Only thing is those cracked games can only be played on cracked servers that don't check the CD KEYS or something like that. BF2 is probablyone of those games that had been downloaded illegally so many times it isn't no wonder EA gets so fed up and not care how their games play, just to try to tick those people off that are playing the game for free.
I was able to take the BF2 Deluxe Edition 5 CD's and make into one DVD. That way I can store my original disc without worrying about losing them or damaging them. So far the only game I have not seen cracked and has been around forever is BF2142. Although I am sure somebody may have done it by now?
If a game is free and has a little bit of advertising in it I would say "OH WELL", just as long as the advertsing does not effect my bandwith for playing the game. Of course they can always add to much to the game but like the billboards on BF2142 that is not bad. I see that amount of advertsing riding the the interstate. Guess I shouldn't drive cause of all the billboards along the interstate blocking the scenery? I believe a lot of games will end up with some form of advertsing in them at some point. Hell for that matter a lot already do just not in game. The splash screen that pops up in a lot of games "Nvidia, the way it's meant to be played" is advertsing Nvidia video cards.
AS I said, advertising is not bad as long as it is something that may have an interest to the individual playing and does not take away the bandwith for the game itself or even have so much that a game is nothing but advertising.
If everybody hated the advertising so much then they should have boycotted BF2142 cause just about all knew about it before they bought it or they just never had internet service to read about it even before it's release. If people would not have bought that game then maybe EA would have said, "Well, that was a bad idea let's not make that same mistake twice and keep advertising out of all other games we make in the future."
I think it would be our own faults games will have more advertising in them anyway.
