Re: What is the official Ruling for Zatar?

Pheonix was a stock map

Muttrah is coming back

Steel Thunder I liked but would have been increasingly silly with so many (powerfull) tanks

Helmand - small infantry only map which is something they seem to be removing from the game I guess

On the positive side their does seem to be some great new maps around the corner, like fallujah looks excellent and lots of infantry potential

Looks here for threads with [Map] in the title

Re: What is the official Ruling for Zatar?

PR will continue to develope kickass maps, v0.8 will probably focus mainly on maps.....

As for old maps: the only PR developed map that has been removed so far has been muttrah city (which is getting a remake), the rest were BF2 community maps that PR had permission to use, but they were not developed with PR gameplay in mind and suffered from various problems. The next wave of PR maps will have alot of new custom content and have been developed specifically for PR v0.7+ gameplay in mind.

Re: What is the official Ruling for Zatar?

Can LZ 2 be recaptured? I know MEC ended up one night getting the LZ1 back but when I tried along with a few other squad mates to get to LZ2 we started getting the out of bounds time ticker and turned back around.
Also, I like Zatar wetlands in PR, only thing is the carrier does need to be moved back OR the out of bounds for the MEC team needs to be farther back from the LZ zones for the US. But then again most of the time I see people from the US even swim in to the LZ zones and capture the flag quicker than APC's or heli full of troops. These are the ones that the MEC are looking for and not the infantry that swim in and are usually not noticed.

Edit: I also agree that some revamping could make some of the older maps really enjoyable.

We were on the MEC side in the match featured in the video. We were watching the approach from the north to Farm when all of a sudden an entire squadron of blackhawks comes roaring throw the valley being escorted by little birds. It was the absolute COOLEST thing I have ever seen in PR - we were all just speechless when the formation went by.

Re: What is the official Ruling for Zatar?

What if we throw in a littlebird with machine guns only, no rockets. The AA wouldn't lock on them and it could scout the hills giving limited cover to APC's.

Re: What is the official Ruling for Zatar?

I believe i was the commander on that map, i liked the part with the mec firebase because I remember Nardini built a firebase right on the opposite side of the MEC firebase. That was the second time playing and commanding on that map (i hope one time before the next update to play as a squad member on the map) but an excellent time because it was one of the most organized time being a commander. It was excellent and a lot of fun!!

You guess correct, Im not sure its to everyone taste but its only a bit of fun.

Distance shots really get wrecked by the poor quality encoding of youtube, etc
See if this looks any better on a DIVX quality host

Re: What is the official Ruling for Zatar?

Yea I recorded it with wegame, I recommend it.

I'll try with the higher quality settings next time maybe

Ive recorded an entire 23 minute game with wegame with no lag and I was flying at the time & theres no limit to the video length ?

As a host its also better quality then youtube but not quite as good as stage6/divx can be, afaik

test video :
http://wegame.com/watch/jj/

Downsides would be the sound isnt right for me and I cant edit it at all if I want to retain quality or extended duration the host website offers unless someone knows the trick to that maybe

Re: What is the official Ruling for Zatar?

I am in the agreement that this problem can be solved with every single carrier map by placing the carrier 100m outside the maximum AA range from the closest piece of land. This gives anyone in a helicopter a 100m buffer in which to maneuver and gain altitude to perhaps avoid or come in from another direction.

I have to also agree with Catraphact. I didn't get to play those maps in the past as it's before I discovered PR however a good map is a good map and it shouldn't be discarded due to version change. Modify and update them to fit the current version especially if they are very popular and extreme on the fun factor.

Solution for Zatar AAS

I remember we had a problem where the 16 player version of zatar was loading even when the 64p was listed in maplist.list

Can anyone remember how that was solved or the cause of that problem because we have another server doing that right now for a scrim

I know its something to do with 16p being the only AAS version of this map

If an admin accidentally adds the Zatar map listed under AAS (which is what almost every map is listed under except Zatar, Oman, Basrah, Archer, and 7 Gates) it will add the 16 version map with 64 ticket count. The "real" map is listed under counter.

I noticed another problem regarding this map yesterday. My squad was in that island directly North of Center Hill, where the MEC always sit to try to disrupt helos and APC from rolling in from the east beach. I had a firebase set up with an AA emplacement, and one of my squad mates was shooting it randomly. He had not locked onto anyone, but was just spamming it around. For some reason those missiles were hitting helicopters on the carrier over 5 grids away, and we had no idea. Cola kept asking me who was shooting them down, and it had to have been my squad since no one was even close.
