I hate this. It creates a waiting room when the server is not full. Unless you can find some way to accommodate players that join into the middle of the round, I am against this.

I am sorry, but as a supporting member, I do not expect to wait 45 minutes to play on a server that is not even full.

I hope this approach to password night is reconsidered. I write this while I am waiting in the PR public TS channel for someone to come up and give me the password.

My frustration stems from the fact that today is my last game on PR for 2 months as I am going on an overseas trip.

I agree with Catraphact. The server only had 49 people in it when I checked, and when I logged into team speak there were around 20 people in the lobby. After waiting for 30mins the people in the lobby dwindled to under 10, I too left b/c I didn't want to wait. While I am not a supporting member, I do play here often and hope that TG reconsiders this approach to password night.

Guys, this was no different after it started than a regular password night. SM's still reserve the right to join at any time. If you're a non-SM and a slot opens up, feel free to join. However, in this instance, we didnt allow team switching. Also, if you didnt show up on time, thats not really something that we can control.

You say that it was no different than any other Password night after it started, but then you say if we didn't show up on time it isn't something you could control. I tried the PW from the forums multiple times as did others on TS (supporting members and non-supporting). So, really this wasn't like any other PW night, you had to be there at the start to get in. I am all for mixing it up and having great games and furthering the mods, I love the mods myself, I just wish that the PW worked and others could get in after the round started. Just my $.02.

The password was provided in the private server teamspeak channel description after the first little while. I heard numerous folks ask in TS for it during the match and were told where to look. They were not trying to make it exclusive, just trying to make sure it stayed available to serious players who would work towards the team goals. That was my interpretation, and what I heard Dirtboy say a few times.

I thought things went fairly well. A couple of suggestions for future nights:

1. The speed at which things moved between rounds was a little slow (the preperation). I am guessing this will improve itself as those who hosted become more familiar with the ins and outs of taking care of these types of events. Not knocking you guys because it was very fun, just trying to give constructive feedback.
   
2. I'm not sure if it was a bug or what, but I got switched to the Chinese team (i was a brit) in the middle of the Qinling round while our squad was in the middle of trying to assault/hold the village. I also heard others in TS having the same issue. I did see that the auto balance was turned off in the map options so not sure what the problem was, but would be nice if we could figure that out and make a correction if one is available.

The password was available from Teamspeak, as it states at the beginning of this thread. Teamspeak-only passwords is something that we have used before. The server never was full last night that I saw and it was entirely possible for anyone to join. Several people did come in during the rounds to fill vacancies.

The password was not on Teamspeak until the middle of Qinling. By that time, I had waited 1 hour to get into a server that was not full. I am fine with the "TS only Password" thing as long as it is actually on TS from the beginning to the end, which it normally is.

I may be mistaken, but, was the password always in the "BF2 Private Server" Channel description throughout the entire password night? I do not think so as about 12-15 people were waiting with me in the PR public channel and they had no clue about the PW. We were hoping that when the round ended, an admin would come up and get us in. I got frustrated and left after 1 hour to go get some breakfast. I came back, talked to Nardini and he pointed me in the right direction.

By the way, when I did get in-game, it was really fun and I had a good time. Hats off to Ferris for diligent Squad-leading

It was, it was just on the Private Server channel description. Like we said, this was the first time we've done something like this and we need to work out the kinks. No one died over this, so be patient and we'll get it worked out.

Actually it wasn't. At one time there was like 13 people waiting in the public channel to join, and there were that many slots avaiable on the server. Some people were waiting more than 30+, and others, including S.M., got tired of waiting and left.

One of the guys even dropped down to the Team 1 channel and asked about the password, and Nardinia said he would put the password back up in a min., but it ended up being more than 15 mins.
