Re: New Spec Op's Kit!

^^ itll be like the spies in TF2!

btw.... u can sortof replace parachutes with grappling hooks. not sure if this works as ive never done it before and ive only heard of it being done once or twice, but use the grappling hooks while sitting in the chopper. throw it on the ground and u got some fast roping...except the problem is that the chopper cnt be moving (has to hover) and then just climb down!

Re: New Spec Op's Kit!

currently I cant think of a map where a team has both engineers with grappleing hooks and helocopters..

The only thing that grappleing hooks will attach to are structures.. Buildings, Walls, ect.

I think someone was pulling your leg..

Re: New Spec Op's Kit!

That would be so cool to stick a grappling hook on a helicopter. yes, i know it will never happen, but thats still bloody cool

Otherwise we will have half the team dropping in on the enemy base while they take all the flags. It's bad enough how people fight over tanks and aircraft now.
How can half the team be dropping in if the kit is limited to two people only?? If they 'd limit the pilot kits to the number of air vehicles... we wouldn't have this problem either .

No seriously, I loved the idea of dropping far behind enemy lines and sneaking in their base. Driving a jeep in wouldn't be very 'stealthy'... right?

Re: New Spec Op's Kit!

I've tried it before, you can get the hook to stick onto the vehicle but you can't climb it. Well, at least in vBF2 that how it was, probably the same in PR since it's most likely engine related.

Edit: Response to grappling hook + BH comment

Yea seriously.. Im not talkin like having any kits with parachutes being in the main kit selection menu but just being limited.. And no light sabers, only SOFLAMs to call in Direct Death Star Laser Cannon shots.

That comment was in reply to the comment above my post that I will quote below:

I like the idea that only two out the the 30 players on a server should be doing Spec Ops work. It keeps people focused on the flags where they belong. In vBF2, there was a little more reason for Spec Ops since destroying enemy equipment deprived them of assets. It's not such a big deal in PR and really not worth the effort in most cases. Spec Ops would be most useful for lasing enemy targets for air assets to take out, much like we had in the scrim vs the Coalition of Clans, not uselessly para-dropping to blow up stuff.

In the end, the two kit limitation is there for good reason, and using the pilot kit to bypass it is very much an exploit. I would also support a move to limit pilot kits to the number of aircraft on a map.

Re: New Spec Op's Kit!

The one change that would play out well with a spec ops kit's usefulness (other than lasing targets) would be to set a timer on the deployment of command posts. Since you cant build bunkers/firebases without them, it would be interesting to see how a team would have to guard and repair their assets if it meant that the CP getting taken out directly led to no bunkers/firebases for 15 or so minutes. A well organized and sneaky as hell spec ops team could singlehandedly turn the tide of battle.

Re: New Spec Op's Kit!

For me the C4 is a littlebit to much, it makes the engineer redundant on many infantry maps or at least very unpopular.

Re: New Spec Op's Kit!

Engineer is the kit I spawn as most often because they get use of supply trucks and are basically the most fundamental spawn kit.
C4 is not that vital, they'll continue to be just as important imo, the abundance of shovels affected their importance more as well as the degrade to their wrenches

Everyone gets parachutes in this map I think, just like old airport

Good idea Ferris btw Spec ops is the only kit able to take a co post out completely in one hit, by themselves

This is actually great news. The SLAMs were too limited to do any real damage which is why Sabotage squads were always Engineers. The silenced pistol is also huge.

Big Smiles!
