Re: "Tricking" people in to squad leading

Whenever this happens to me I go with my all situation motto and just say F*ck it and lead. If somone is always a squaddie they'll never be a good SL. Same goes for commander. I think most of the good SL's would agree with me when I say that good SL's arn't born, they're made.

Re: "Tricking" people in to squad leading

So what this is telling me is that good squad leaders are in short supply. Thats a dangerous situation.

No, theres plenty of good SLs. But there are a lot of people who are afraid of the job too.

I don't think they are in short supply but those of us who are SL's teach those in hopes that they step up to be SL's, it takes practice.

The 16 player maps are excellent maps for first time SL's set quick RPs etc, along with larger maps such as: Qwai, EJOD 64, Qinling 32 and Mestia.

And the best squad leaders are the ones who have tried to command. Getting a good knowledge of whats involved on all ends really helps in both cases. I would recommend to try out the entire game, to all you SM only players

Re: "Tricking" people in to squad leading

I know as being a SL many times that after a while I want to take a break from being SL. Unfortunately often people just don't want to start squads and be SL so it gives the good SL little down time to just play and not worry about being SL. The same goes for Commander. Both are tiring jobs and some of us just want to take a break and not be either for a bit.

Someone trying to SL is better than someone not trying at all. I hate being in squads where no one is even trying. And we all respect those that are trying to improve themselves, so don't be shy or afraid!

Unfortunately when this happened to our squad on Qwai a few days ago, you ended up with me as SL

I used to shy away from squad leading whenever possible but I'm not overly averted to it now. So long as people are patient with me. Usually you'll have some advance warning if you see me leading "Fail Squad".

Re: "Tricking" people in to squad leading

I've seen that the reason some players don't want to be SL is the level of expectancy that comes with it. Commander's orders, figuring out what to do next. It really requires... thinking, and about half of the people who play games are trying to get away from...thinking.

And I have seen "Fail Squad" before. Not so failing, are you guys?

lol , that trick usually end with a disbanded squad , I lead when there is no one to do it,even if my squad sounds like a "female horse fastened with wax".

Re: "Tricking" people in to squad leading

Usually with the squad that get tricked into SL everyone either A) leaves or B) goes lone wolf lol. I really hate the idea of this happening and think someone should just attempt to be a SL. Heck, you don't have to talk, just put attack markers and thats better than nothing.

Re: "Tricking" people in to squad leading

Then you're between a rock and a hard place. Teamwork isnt just something we want around here. Teamwork is REQUIRED. If you choose not to report people for blatantly disobeying orders, thats your choice. But failing to stand up for the server rules because you dont feel like it makes you as guilty as they are.

If you see a problem, solve it or report it. If you dont, you should play somewhere that doesnt require the rules to be enforced. Letting people run amok because you're lax just means that next time the person breaks the rules, someone else has to deal with it because you were too lazy or too scared. It's that simple.
