If you take a few mins in the first minutes of a round and go through these basics , then you will have a bunch of pubbies and regulars in the squad who (hopefully) do wedges, columns and fireteams etc.

Re: pr wedge

AS much as it goes against reality (and previous versions of PR), the squad leader can be up front because:
-He is no longer a spawn point so assuming RPs are placed properly, he can be back fairly soon
-Unlike reality, he can still lead while dead and, in fact, is in some ways better off talking and viewing the map while dead since you can't die twice

The true negative is that your point will occationally be looking at the map or be otherwise distracted by the command channel. I do think that this is a good enough reason to leave the point to someone else.

Re: pr wedge

I like to see more fire supression in the game. I don't think there is enough use of the kit for it's real intended use (bullets) over it's secondary use (providing bullets). I have been in squads where the AutoRifle position is nothing more than a rocket provider to the HAT.

I think slinging bullets to provide essential cover to the infantry is underrated in our gaming. We had a thread on the beauty of the infantry squad a few weeks back, but I haven't seen the conversation turned to reality on the battlefield yet ;-)

Re: pr wedge

I still cannot SL and take the front position in combat situations, so I tend to favour putting my Sargent in front, assigning him command responsibilities, and keeping myself to the middle or the rear. This allows me to devote more time to maintain sit rep of the battle front, communicate with the CO and my FTLs.

Also, being at the rear allows the SL to overwatch FT formation, which is useful if you have players not used to disciplined formation and movement.

Having said that, I know of few SLs more competent than BigGay, and would follow him if he was in front, blindfolded, and quite drunk.

Regards,

I agree but in my experience no mater how you plan it he usaly end up front anyway, so you might as well put in the plan.

Re: pr wedge

Good thread:

As pointed out, SL should never be leading (RL), but if he can command and communicate with the CO and squad while being dead - throw him up there. I haven't been able to get the binoculars mil dot down, but if engaging long range inf SL can give a range estimation and maybe some hold advice if alive.

Re: pr wedge

In the game, the easiest formation Ive seen used to good effect is bounding overwatch

Re: pr wedge

Al,

I think the A team B team we used on Sunday - Oman - worked well. The B team / sniper team was great to hold the enemy. You did a great job with the tactics.

Re: pr wedge

good idea there, probably not practical i must say, cause you can never keep that order, mountains, no minimap other obsticals etc....

Re: pr wedge

Bah, easy to keep order..

I Dont want to bust any ones balls, but there is a way to get a mini-map type effect.
Set your mini-map transparency to 0, then you can open up your "M" map as infantry and zoom in all the way, acts as an excellent mini-map for squad organization...

besides, formations are easy to keep..

Yes that was fun. I'm generally pleased with the flexibility. Sometimes its the kit layout that is useful (desert) other times its the formation/fireteam. It seems to be more manageable fo me then 3 man fireteams. The 4 man fireteam is also handy if you need to get fire somewhere.

I should post a short vid of that round within an hour or a day.

*updated* added music.

No I made this as an attempt to find a useful adaptation of such doctrines for PR with pubbies. This is different from what the MIP used to do, in that the MIP depended on SOP's, whereas my plan in this thread tries to rely on ease of use.

Re: pr wedge

Try hosting on www.stage6.com if you want divx level of quality or a bigger picture

www.wegame.com has a slightly better online codec then youtube but they wont accept .wmv

www.Putfile.com is the last option, it is slightly better quality then youtube.
