Re: being kicked from squads for no voip WTF
Hi all
This is the last comment you will here from me regarding this thread. PR is all about realisim right? in real life each member of an inf squad would have strengths and weakneses, for example man x may be a fast runner, man y, may be a bit slow. In a combat environment someone bay be shell shocked, or cannot hear (as in blackhawk down). Anyway what I am getting at is that these limitations cannot be emulated in game, although we have other personal anomalies that represent this in game and we should learn to embrace them such as, someone cant use their mic, or lag etc. etc. I think its all about mateship (maybe an australian thing) no man gets left behind etc. So if someone cant use a mic still work as a team stick together and kick the enemys ass. Not sure if I have expressed myself properly, but u get the drift. In the end, if your on the same team your on the same side, no matter what someones limitations are, and I think thats true realisim. Cheers

Re: being kicked from squads for no voip WTF
No man gets left behind here in the US also, but then again, we also have decent recruiting standards and higher standards for combat personnel. As for the realism, we are making the best out of a bad situation. In RL combat, you can be totally silent and give your team hand signals that are quick and easy to understand because they are practiced. In our game world where we have limited realism due to the game engine and about a 60% reduction in real time situational awareness, we have to make sacrifices. Imagine taking some poor guy with laryngitis and dropping him in a squad in Iraq right now and telling everyone to wear blinders so they have no peripheral view and make the mute guy carry a typewriter to communicate with. Yeah, that works nicely, lol.

Re: being kicked from squads for no voip WTF
Thread has run its course. All the feedback has hopefully been constructive.
Remember, hearing VoIP is required, but using it is not. That said, using a mic is very much the preferred method of communication whenever possible.
