Memory is cheap nowadays, vista can use that for disk caching maybe?

Re: ok no not ok

I play video games and surf the interwebs with my computer. Occasionally I do video editing, audio editing, etc. Nothing super high speed. But I wanted to make a badass computer and I had the cash, so I made one. QX6850 quad core, 8GB DDR3, 2x500GB HDs and Dual x1950 Pro XTX LE 1GB GFX cards. Yes, its overkill. I dont care. I like overkill.

Or maybe you are compensating for lack of something else, hehe.

Re: ok no not ok

Nows a good time to swap the crossfire card setup for a cheaper similar performance card

Barnaby, geometry and viewdistance both contribute to how far you can see vehicles and infantry. They are most important.

If you have trouble with maps with lots of vegetation, try turning of anti aliasing.

I would keep effects on medium too, and textures. I believe these contribute too to how far you can see impacts of say a tank shell. I used to play with settings where I could not see my shells explode if th target is very far. This is quite problematic.

For other stuff you should google ""battlefield 2" "tweakguide". The standard for tweaking bf2 graphics.

That doesnt even list my card set. They're dual 1GB cards, ATI only made 200 sets and they came in a metal briefcase. Plus, ive played on dual 8800GTX setups and theres no perceivable difference between that and what I've got. I can run any game on the market on high and get max FPS. Maybe when the next big technology step in vid cards comes out, I'll upgrade.

And no, it's not compensating for anything. Nobody ever sees my computer and I dont brag bout it much except when people ask me around here. I'm a nurse, nobody in my field gives a crap about computers. It was just a glorified spending spree when I got my first couple massive paychecks after getting a good job.

And Elwinil, I live out in east orlando near UCF. I sleep maybe 10-12 hours a week (chronic insomnia sucks), but I also have two roommates who are gun enthusiasts, so coming to steal my rig would probably be bad for your health unless you feel the need to breathe directly out of your chest.

Re: ok no not ok

I thought you meant they were 512meg x 2. Ive not heard of that card coming with 1gb or in a metal briefcase Definitely maximum overkill

What psu do you have suffering under the strain of all that

Re: ok no not ok

I dont find the fans annoying at all. They're virtually silent. I've had brand spanking new Dells that were louder with a single fan.

Re: ok no not ok

Yeah some fans that you buy arent loud at all. I have 4 case fans all made by stealth or something and they are failry quiet. BTW this is wayyyyyy off topic.

Re: ok no not ok

Psu is relevant to stability in game and he mentioned dual graphic cards.

An unstable graphics card can give connection errors strangely. I need to 5volt mod my fans, they are a bit above 30db I estimate :/
