Re: Sniping

I know, it was awful of me to divulge such a brilliant tactic, but really it shows fellow snipers how to use the weapon in interesting ways, and hopefully it will make other players make better decisions when they come under fire.

It's all about raising the status quo.

Re: Sniping

Another neat trick that works when coming under fire from a sniper or just about anything is to dodge back and forth. It takes you a little longer to get under cover, but if they have to compensate for your movement in two directions and then you switch directions, it's harder to judge where you end up. It's no legal to bunny hop. but dodging back and forth is and it is a realistic tactic. I can't count how many times it has saved me when coming under fire from a sniper, tank MG, or SAW.

Re: Sniping

That is about the only time You will ever hear me say
"Thank GOD for PROJECTILE DEVIATION" is when im running across an open area bullets hitting at my feet as I go..

I must be slower than El because the saw seems to take me down whenever its pointed in my direction.

Ok, here it is: if an enemy is moving, take a shot. Even if you don't hit, many players will freeze and go prone when they hear a sniper rifle/bullet nearby. They will try to hide behind a tree or rock and look for the source, often leaving themselves exposed:
*BLAM*
"Yeah, that's it...stop moving...thank you...now lay down...nope, I'm over here..."
*BLAM*
hehe status quo.. yea...

Re: Sniping

Thanks for all the help guys, I didn't know the snipers were bugged, I only knew the marksman kits were. I guess that's why it seemed like the bullets landed in random places no matter how long I waited before shooting.

Re: Sniping

is it really that bugged? i tested the rifle on trees and such and if you stay still it seems to hit were you aim... so whats bugged about them?

the american sniper rifle (green one i think) seems to me more bugged then the rest.

Re: Sniping

I remember the time when i wandered off with a us marksman on Ejod once. I got behind cover, at a cappable base (This is when the MEC got pushed back to the one right infront of their main) I was sitting there, watching a squad of 6 shoot at our squads. All of their heads were exposed. I sat there, sighted one, waited 5 seconds, and shot him. Well, i tried to , the bullet deviated and hit another one in the arm... They all consequently ducked, and i kept shooting at the ones i could see. That was untill i took a single rifleman optics round to the head.
Dont know what the moral of the story was, but i just wanted to type alot

Re: Sniping

thats not typing a lot. ask the guys around here about my famous rants. THATS typing a lot.

another key thing for snipers: COUNT YOUR BULLETS.
nothing worse than pulling belhade's trick, popping off your first shot and then getting to reload, giving your target time to put one in your face.

Re: Sniping

Grab a spotter with a Marksmen kit. And watch the dead bodies pile up.

now on Basarah....when Im a Brit I like to sneak into Mosque and grab sniper rifle....then find myself a nice tall building and tear them up. That rifle is excellent. hitting moving targets is not a problem with that thing...just lead them a bit.

Re: Sniping

Because of the sniper bugs I don't play PR to much lately and the fact it seems like so many peope are getting where they don't want a sniper in their squads anymore. That is of course my favorite kit. One tip I would give for sniping when the enemy is running at a distance. Judge where they are going and don't lead them, put the crosshair where you judge for them to go and wait for them to run into the scope and fire when you think would be the best. Leading a target causes you to move which can lead to jerky movements. Sometimes you have choice ut to lead a running enemy while sniping though, just be slow cause most people it seems like when leading they get shaky or jerky and when they hit the button to fire they tend to jerk throwing the bullet off. That is why I try not to lead a target.
