Re: Need Advice: new GAMING MOUSE.

The newest G5 model has 2 buttons on the thumb side as apposed to the one that i have on my model but i do love the overall design of the G5 and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a gaming mouse

* Insert stupid comment here *

All seriousness I would recommend the standard optical/laser mouse.. 30$ special. I don't see the need for more than the 3 buttons, thats what the keyboard is for, yes?

Re: Need Advice: new GAMING MOUSE.

I was very generous recently and gifted a 1989 Mitec serial port mouse to someone, originally from a 386.

For larger budgets then that I think Logitech will always be easiest to use plus they have good customer service. Email them for free mouse feet replacements

On the other hand I cant stand mice with leads on them, irritating how it puts the aim off with slight resistance at the wrong time. Go wireless for sure imo

I use the Logitech G7, completely programmable and in the two years I have owned it, I have only had one problem with it working and a simple software re-install fixed it. No cord, two hot swap-able batteries, comfortable as hell, I love it.

Ditto. I've had my G7 for +2 years and have never had a problem. You can tell the software at what point to alert you when the battery is getting low and the blinking red light is fairly noticeable.

I am on my 2nd Copperhead. It is a great mouse as I has purchased the Lachesis with high expectations but the firmware sucks. I was looking forward to 4000dpi...Now I'm stuck with 2000...JJ

Re: Need Advice: new GAMING MOUSE.

Oh yeah, another thing I personally recommend is go with a cord, for gaming it helps a lot since you don't have to push that extra weight around which ends up sliding from the force you push it with sometimes. Some people will say wireless is better but the cord is better on your wrist (doesn't make it tired easily) and on your budget. Sure rechargeable batteries only have to be recharged but initially they cost a fair amount. Also, you won't have to worry about running out of battery life with a cord.

Re: Need Advice: new GAMING MOUSE.

None of those things really count as a problem. I use a mx600, it'll run off a single AA battery and it lasts a week. When its low it'll flash for an hour before running out.

The weight used to be a problem with the mx700 I had but that is an older heavier design and I just bought a low resistance, hard mouse pad which I still have 4 years later. Modern wireless mouse should be fine, I dont like extremely light mice though.

Re: Need Advice: new GAMING MOUSE.

I've had the G7 for a while and it started getting glitchy on me. The left click sometimes randomly gives a double click and the wireless locks up sometimes and I have to unplug and replug the USB. I'm thinking of getting the G9 but going back to wired mite be tough.

Re: Need Advice: new GAMING MOUSE.

As for the cord thing, I was a little worried when I got the G7 about battery life and interference as well as lag issues but honestly, this mouse is much more accurate than the old optical Logitech I used to have and on my desk the mouse pad (a very old Fellows gel wrist pad model) sits in front of my bio-fingerprint reader, cordless phone and one speaker so the cord was always getting hung up on something or the edge of the desk. The freedom from the cord was just what I needed and I personally prefer a heavier mouse. I even looked at the models that you can add weights too before I bought the G7. In the end the G7 turned out perfect since it suits me fine, is laser, not optical and accurate as anything and has perfect weight, which is about equal to my cellphone. I will eventually upgrade since I would like at least one more button and 4000dpi, but for now the G7 rocks.

As for Logitech, I've always been happy with their products for the PC and Playstation, but that may change if Microsoft buys them out.

On the G7 glitches, I will have to add that I do have to turn the mouse off by the power button and then back on when I swap batteries or it doesn't always keep the sensitivity setting. It's no big deal, but I thought I would mention it.
