I'll second this.

I had tons of fun in vBF2, but under the teamwork and rules of TG it was just that much better. Some maps (like Karkand) and technicals (constant radar/UAV) made it a bit more action than tactical, but with TG players on the field it was still a good time.

While I don't necessarily wish for vBF2 again, unfortunately PR isn't my cup of tea either. It's just overall too complicated for me, feels like way too much crammed into one box. I also can't really stand how every map seems to be packed with more vegetation than an out of control jungle; I really had a hard time seeing anything that wasn't right next to me. I preferred our own TacMod when we still had it. Just enough tweaking to make the game less action-y, but not so complicated that it felt like I needed to fill out paperwork too. :P

I miss larger scale of BF2. But yea, it's definitely the TG players that make TG, not the game we play.

Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?

One thing I just thought of

- Nades as a primary weapon. If you pay attention on vBF2 people rarely use thier gun on Karkand, if they see you they will throw a nade instead of shoot... Pisses me off

Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?

No supression- first to prone and fire wins.
No blood effects- more realistic.
PR has better maps.
PR has better vehicles.
PR has less vehicle stealing (virtually 0%)
I really like having a seperate driver/gunner in tanks and APCs. Makes for bette teamwork and it's really satisfying to work with another vehicle and steamroll an enemy flag.
And, of course, TG!

Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?

1) People dont follow orders
2) Too spammy
3) No one has a mic
4) Never played it on TG so I dont know how it's suppose to be played
5) They always want to go around and take the last flag (Common in all BF series)

Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?

I don't play BF2 because I like the long battles and tactical necessity that PR includes. I like being in a squad and commanding squads of men, and armor divisions and aircraft. I like that you need a crewman or pilot kit to use a tank or fly a plane or helicopter. PR is a great strategy FPS.

BF2 was a lot of fun don't get me wrong, i loved it, without it PR wouldn't exist, PR is the next level. But then again if i still played vanilla I would be commenting in the BF2 forum and not in here.

If you can't make it in PR as a responsible squad member, then.....i guess you are too l33t and as we know those who are so l33t don't usually last.

Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?

Honestly, every once in a while I trade my TG tag in for my smacktard hat and go flying jets at the expense of a few dead teammates. Trying to get air assets in PR is to much hassle, and I'm probably not good enough to use them without being yelled at by the SL.

Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?

Why I love vanilla(part 1)

-I love being a sniper whore, but i suck at sniping (voice: and why do u use sniper kit?) simple as this, my speciality is to run into the streets of karkand and to lay my 2 claymores in the spawn locations and then to die...to conclude: 2 kills per death, sweet hah?

-I love air maps cause i can fly a choppah on my own, switching seats in it, so I can be the noobiest guy in the world, oh! and if somebody steals it(teammate)no problem, i allways carry my barrel m95 so can blow his head up, for being a teamplayer, cause im the best player ever known and i dont need pilots/gunners.

-I love being a medic with my ak 101, m16, g36c, etc... killing everbody i see cause im a pro and go prone first and allways win(if not, i call him cheater, cause nobody beats me) bunnyhopping here and there, reviving teammates (for the points, i dont give a damn my teammates)

-No TG server, that means no awesome even-handed admins, so i can do whatever I want

Hmm wait...this post is to critisize vanilla right?

Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?

I did attempt a round in vBF2 a few days ago and all I can say is WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING?!?!?!

Project Reality surpasses BF2 with flying colors, If anything, PR should have been the game and BF2 should have been the mod for the children who can't handle it.

I really hope PR becomes a success story like Red Orchestra. Mod becomes Game.

Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?

Have you guys ever noticed the average age of a vBF2 player is about 10 while in PR its around 25... That maturity is what makes PR that much better.
