Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?
1. Vanilla is just too easy. I prefer a challenge.
2. Complete Lack of Teamwork or any sort of common sense. 3. Sever lack in quality mature players.

Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?
Last time I play Vanilla I was kicked from the server. It was actually Armored fury and I was flying a LB and they all called me a hacker. I told them anybody in that server played PR and flew the LB in it would understand why a person can be so good with a LB in AF. I was shooting down their attack heli's quickly and then doing flips and all that stuff. chasing down the vehicles that could be killed by a LB and destroying them and getting infantry kills out the whazoo.
It was a blast, lol. But that was a year ago or more and I hardly play PR now. Even when I do I do not fly. everybody is always grabbing the jets and hel;i's before I do and I have not practiced in the newer versions. Probably can't fly worth a dang now, I also got a new mouse, that is a scary thought. A new mouse and trying to fly?!?! I think it is OK to go into vanilla just to have those goof off moments.

I think I haven't played vanilla BF2 in about half a year now since I got started with PR
I like the challenge and the quality teamplay it manages to enforce on the servers most of the time. The maps are pretty good too, and where if not in PR can you run around as an arab with limited weaponry, doing your best to defeat the oncoming Coalition armor and soldiers? =DI guess playing PR will improve your understanding and use of cover, tactics and teamwork so much that going back to BF2 will be like stepping into a monkey cage and inventing the wheel ![]() Would you rock and always be #1? I was doing well before I switched to PR but... I bet you'll curse the game for letting people suddenly take so much damage before they die. I remember I did when vanilla BF2 first came out! I mean how can a human being - wearing kevlar or not - take about half a magazine from an assault rifle and still be able to shoot back?? I was a bit disappointed but the game grew on me. Imagine my joy when I installed a realistic mod like PR, with its stupendously more correct hit damage and limited kits, meaning half a server would not run around carrying anti tank weapons! PR is truly like a drug ^^ |

Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?
I found out, that BF2 accuracy is quite good, people just find themselves facing M95 snipers and 2.5 m engagements in an alley too much. I took out a sniper who went on in global chat how he "pwnz" and I shot him with two AK101 rounds on semi-auto
I play BF2 for an afternoon every few months, then I hug PR for a week ![]() PR situational awareness comes handy in BF2 actually, I could almost get two knife kills in a row because the enemy players had so much tunnel vision, but I forgot the changes to running speed and hitboxes and sliced through the guy only to have dust come out :/ |

Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?
Besides all the points mentioned the biggest pet peeve I have with vanilla; the "magical" uav that not only can view people through buildings but send the feed directly to every combatant on the field in real time. I can almost imagine the though process at DICE when they came up with that brainstorm. "Hey it's too damn hard to find the enemy!" "Let's include a built-in cheat....but it's ok because you have to request it first.". Add to that the "magical auras" you get when a medic, engineer or support gunner get in a vehicle it's pretty assinine.
I actually had BF2 for a year and a half before I actually played a game of it. Prior to that I had spent all my time coding for the Rising Conflicts mod never having played vanilla. It lasted 3 months before I couldn't stomach anymore. Since PR I haven't looked back even viewing POE2 as just Vanilla2. It's only in PR that I have seen tactics and teamwork that make those 2hr+ rounds worthwhile. |

Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?
BF2 is full of people that don't understand combat.
PR is full of people that do. U.S. Army Retired

Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?
Way too much generalization in here..don't even know why I bother posting...but if you want to talk about asset mongering , smacktards ,players not listening to orders etc. etc. in vBF2 try reading the postings in here and over on the PRM forums and you'll find they populate PRM servers in huge numbers too.
If you don't like the game play (which I don't) fine but I'm tired of people blaming the vBF2 community (or even the CS community which oddly enough has nothing to do with PRM) for the basic faults of what EA said was a fun arcade style FPS. Why I don't play vBF2?? (well actually I do once in a while)... a) EA's moronic ranking system puts casual players entering the game late at a disadvantage because those who dedicated their lives to gaining ranks and unlocks have a fire power advantage. b) I prefer the realistic weapon performance found in PRM. c) Team work (or lack of) is about the same sometimes though PRM does tend to draw the team oriented player; thus the chances of getting into one of those "magical" squads is greater though definitely not 100% Why I DO play vBF2 a) If I want to hop on a server for a casual quick round to blow things up and not have to tie up an entire morning playing a 6 hour map , vBF2 fits the bill. b) If I don't feel like spending a whole lot of time holed up in a position with my squad waiting for a counter assault , the vBF2 fits the bill. c) If I simply want to drive/fly anything I want and blow stuff up , then vBF2 fits the bill. In general I much prefer PRM if I'm in the mood for a serious , teamwork oriented game but sometimes I just want to blow off some steam and have fun so vBF2 (and others such as CoD4 , DoD and CS) are a great release.

Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?
Agreed - it really is not the same game anymore.

Re: Why don't you play Vanilla?
Yea I will sometimes pop into a vBF2 server for some fast paced action. But, I always find those smacktards. More so in vBF2 than in PR.
Last game I was C4ed of the carrier twice, tked for something, countless times and kicked from a server because I took a jet from an admin. But in the end its great for a quick 15 minute action packed game.
