i'm not in my 30's but ill give you one word and denis leary said it best in his stand up bit no cure for cancer: Ludes. - i inserted a joke not to be taken seriously.

My guess headphones help it cancels out the background noise i.e. wife or girlfriend, crying child, dog that needs to be taken out, phone ringing, blackberry going off, etc.

multi-tasking

I often ask myself this question as well.

Re: A Mature Gamer's Age

I find that I am very mature, even for an 12 year old. I handle myself like a real adult, I feel that TG offers me a way to express my overwhelming maturity, at any time of day.

Whenever someone takes the chopper I wanted, I simply tell them that they will be banned(even though I am not and admin) and the bow down my authority. TG is awesome, while other 12 Y/Os are cruising around talking about magical card games, I am crushing Dirtboy's squad, and listening to him scream in frustration.

Again, life at TG as a 12 year old boy is really cool!

I seem to read a just remark here between the lines, and I agree if I read it right. I'm weighing my words, as not to offend anyone, hoping instead to improve things for all.

Unfortunately I am able to guess in 90% of the cases whether a TG-er is below +-18 or not, by the behaviour in squads and on TS/voip.

-They seem to have more difficulty accepting orders cleanly (without "but"-s). Perhaps this is due to the rebellious nature of puberty, and the ensuing relationship with authority.

-They seem less able to shut up in time to clear comm channels, or to discern when small talk is welcome or disturbing.

Maturity is more then following the rules, it is also being able to put yourself in another's shoes. That helps when trying to establish how much chatter is welcome on a TS channel with 20 people in it .

...Well, I know my comments may come over very condescending, but believe me they aren't meant to be. I'm all too conscious that I make those same mistakes on occasion, and have a flurry of other character flaws . For example; my objective with this post is purely self-serving. For I hope not to have to mute my ts all the time, so that I could at times benefit from the coordination and cordiality ts-comms offers.

PS: *Westyfield you are definitely 10%, it totally surprised me you were that young.
*Sonic, you are right in the question you asked! Keep climbing trees as much as you
can, as long as you can do it without looking like you escaped from a mental institution, which happens at about the age of 18/20.

This is my "depressed stance." When you're depressed, it makes a lot of difference how you stand. The worst thing you can do is straighten up and hold your head high because then you'll start to feel better. If you're going to get any joy out of being depressed, you've got to stand like this. ~Charlie Brown

Also with the need to argue, I've caught myself in multiple situations where I was arguing in a game only to find out how idiotic it was to do so, I then end up slapping myself and unbinding the chat feature for a while.

I can't argue with your thought on maturity though, there is nothing to argue about it, it's an extremely good way to put it.

Re: A Mature Gamer's Age

I'm 21, fulltime job, wife, dog, and yet, I can't wait til I can get on PR (my wife HATES this game...). I've played with alot of people that I really enjoyed. Overall, the maturity level seems to be pretty high. Even the younger players, like Turkish Delight and Sonic Striker (with whom I've played with) show more maturity than some of the adults I see everyday. With such a wide age range, I think that most people would be suprised to see young players acting mature and adults acting...well, mature (sometimes it isn't that way) at least in my observation.

Re: A Mature Gamer's Age

I am 17. I juggle school, football, a 35 hour per week job, and PR along with my social life. It's tough...the only time I am able to take a breather is when I'm playing PR or sleeping, haha.

Doesn't she have things to do that she enjoys?

My cat tries to drag me off the computer sometimes. I've purchased cat toys to keep her occupied, though. Perhaps you could buy some wife toys?

Re: A Mature Gamer's Age

I am her toy......no, but she likes to play Sonic on Xbox Arcade(old Sega Sonic). I tried teaching her Battlefield, she actually killed a guy with a HAT...on accident. But she doesn't like it that much. But I love her just the same (she's over my shoulder).

Re: A Mature Gamer's Age

I'm 14 and I'd like to think mature, I'll follow squad leads order but on the way to objective etc. I will offer any suggestions that may benefit the squad. As stated before me it's more about you attitude then your age when it comes to maturity, I know people who are a lot older then me but act very immature.

Hey, if you're in your 30's now, in just a few blinks and winks, you'll be pushing 50. Enjoy, because time flies, when you're having fun.

BTW, I have a 17 yr old son who's a senior in high school, he could care less about PR. I'm sort of cool with that because he's into sports, whether on playstation or on the field.
