especially on qwai, or transport squads that just fly around, or try to land on people's humvees.........nothing says "i don't understand what tacticalgamer.com means" more that stunts like those.

read the tips, lie down or duck down. Thats how soldiers for the most part do it in real life anyways, they create a perimeter and then move in.

Re: Helo insertion etiquitte

I hear you Taip3n. Not 30 minutes ago I was getting flak from a squad I dropped off because it wasn't close enough to their preferred LZ for their tastes. Nevermind that I was getting locks from a SAM site and I had put down behind a hill instead to avoid having all of us explode. They refused to get out of the chopper until I told them multiple times that I couldn't go any further, and then their squad leader emptied half of his M16 into my windshield.

Sorry, I'm a little bitter.

Anyways, that's a great tip, I'll be sure to do that myself (and tell my squadmates or passengers) in the future. Nothing sucks more than dying after a brilliant insertion, or taking the head off the guy who was just thanking you for the ride. Freelook is a nice tool for telling if I'm clear or not, but there are too many blind shots to ever be sure.

Exit, go prone.

Re: Helo insertion etiquitte

I agree with DB, especially on maps like kashan where the terrain is very iffy. The transport helos seem to tip on anything more than a 5° slope, which makes a vertical/forward takeoff impossible. Best bet is to either go prone or sprint away from the helo as fast as possible.

Another tip: if there is a competent transport squad functioning, please use it and dont just sit around main waiting for vehicles. Remember that a transport helo can drop you at a remote location, drop a box, then come back and drop a second. Once you have two boxes, its firebase time.

This is specialy true now after suppression efffects are in place.

btw. a couple of weeks back, I complaned about the suppression effect cousing player to play unrealistic. I wish to withdraw that comment now the, suppression effect works perfectly, it just took the players a couple of days to catch up and start using it the right way.þ

Hehehehe... I wonder how many of us old gits get that reference?

I like the idea of being Crew Chief/Gunner on a transport bird. Have 2 such crew - 1 Engineer to fix the bird places other than Main and 1 Medic to heal badly hurt Customers.

Pilot is SL and gives the word for "Guns Free!" on hot LZs.

You got my respect as a pilot in this game. I'll stay to being a grunt, better at it. But for sure, I dunno why people are senseless when a chopper pilot is doing their best.

Down with squads such as starstriker mentioned! Well, down with egos ruling some 'power buttons'.

Sadly the transport helicopters have only eight seats, meaning that a three man crew on a chopper isn't an option if you don't like leaving that sixth squad member behind! Certainly it would be effective to have another man available if the helicopter was inserting special forces into an unscouted LZ or if you knew that the squad requesting extract was already a man down.

Re: Helo insertion etiquitte

Which is kind of stupid of the Devs considering a real Blackhawk carries a crew of 3 and still has room for 11 soldiers and gear.

Re: Helo insertion etiquitte

Its an engine limitation, not an oversight on the part of the devs.
