    got a lil question

    do our PR servers have punkbuster?

    I'm pretty sure all PR servers run PunkBuster, the mandatory program. However, we take it a step further and we're a PunksBusted member, meaning we stream to them, catching hackers that appear in their database.

    Yes, but I read something on the PR forums that mentioned something to the effect that since PB scans the vBF2 files, and doesn't even know the PR files exist, that it can be hacked with no problems. Can anyone confirm this to be true or not?

    No, it's not true, especially with the new PR PB fix that was recently added to the server.

    And Disposable asked a good question, why does it matter?

    You do not want the enhanced situational awareness the sharing of information should bring negated by the loss of awareness that too much comms can inadvertently cause.

    He may also be simply curious as to whether or not he should expect the PR pb problems others have had recently or if he can play here secure in the knowledge that punks won't last very long with the streaming.

    I'm aware the question does raise an eyebrow, but some have already decided their judgements before even knowing the other side of the story.

    Because the community knows that it is a clean game, but that they can still be vigilant watching for suspicious activity (or outright hacks, as I have seen in past PR servers including the Tacticalgamer server) to help battle cheaters. Including the knowledge that I.T specialists in anti-cheating and Admins, have the tools to search out evidence, if such a suscpicion arrises, Punkbuster and Battlerecorder being two of these.

    It's a very valid question and should not be put down simply because of a reverse-paranoia pyche trick. Enough of that in the modern world already. Cheaters and those that would be very happy for you to be subserviant should always be in the mind, to be afraid to mention or think something through only plays into the hands of those that want you to be afraid and adhere to such subserviance.

    To kind of quote what one man said along this socialogical concept and subject: Tell them a lie, tell them a big one, tell them often enough and they will believe it.

    And he knew what he was talking about..
