Re: European
What disposable said. I appreciate the input Kilroy, but you gotta remember, we're still trying to stick to one basic concept: maximum result out of minimum effort. What you described sounds an awful lot like work to me.

Re: European
I completely understand. If a video becomes an option in the future then that's my idea. I personally don't have any issues with the way it's done now. We will always suffer unfortunately from those that don't read the rules and don't care about them. All we can really do is keep the pressure on, make the punishment strict and hope for the best.
As for the times of Password night, the original post, You cater the hours to whoever the main admins on the server are. If more admins appear in Europe and if the increase of population warrent it then you might even have an extended TG Password night or two portions of it. Who knows, maybe one day there will be enough players to have a US and a European server. Two TG PR servers across the pond from each other. Wouldn't that be cool?

The only improvement to make the changes to the video easier in the long run is some action script magic. Login, content editing, etc, etc. However that takes time, effort, and if, for example, my company were to do it for someone it'd cost an arm, a leg, your first born child, 3 ducks, and a case of beer (what im saying is it'd cost money or its time equivalent: mainly because I hate action script with such a passion and anyone thats ever dabbled would never take the hassle on for free
).I think these guys are doin their best with the resources and structure they have. I think the main point I got out of this was wait until a European server admin gets settled in enough to start a pw night. The flash movie can be updated at any time but the manpower to monitor the event is determined by external factors. Really 5 admins is a pretty small team for a server populated at all hours. I ran a TFC server for awhile at one point and I needed an admin team of 10 to keep smacktards out and everyone happy. That was WITHOUT password events, a dedicated community with higher expectations, and the fact that TG takes a more re-active approch to managing the server (not that I'm complaining, everyone has their preferred method, I just liked to drop the ban hammer fairly easily in my TFC server so everyone knew it's all fun and games til someone breaks the rules )Anyways, the bottom line seems to be patience people, things generally only get better on TG ![]() Edit: Actually upon thinking about my first part of this post you can pull the PW from an SQL database or an unlisted (blocked from spiders) html page or a text file. A lil php magic and that vid could be automated Just a thought. |
