Re: Ultimate fail!
Yeah I thought it was me, the guy in front of me cleared the mines by going through the side, as I was driving the same way I blew up.... I thought it was my fault =). The plan to make a convoy raid was still awesome.

Its often a case of boredom vs win equaling fail
![]() If people sit at flags and defend then in theory it might lead to no one dying or at the very least a slower more boring game (this was most obvious with 0.7 changes). What the hell do people play games for anyway.. So they move out with an optimistic outlook and get slaughtered, either way the game ends and stays interesting. A bit like that stupid pyscho thread if you remember that, 'gamers get a buzz from losing' ![]() I favour a constant bleed for all flags of various rates then the focus to the game would change completely. To get the last 20 tickets wouldnt be finding 20 enemies to kill, ie. always move forward and shoot your gun It'd be more about holding onto the flag gains (and bleed effects) you have allready captured. It would become very stupid to venture out in the last moments of the game. However it would also mean less last moments of glory, the end should be fairly obvious if one team has 3/4 of the flags. Any mapper know if thats possible to do, at least for testing? |

Anyone who played Road to Kyongan'Ni earlier knows how silly the ticket system can be right now. Everyone defends so we have to wait for 3 hours for the game to end? You cant complain that people play pr like bf2 when the ticket system is encouraging them to do that |

Re: Ultimate fail!
You guys are funny. If you want the game to end quicker, just hit Alt+F4, lol. A long defensive game is the price you pay for a game that has elements of reality in it. If someone asked me, I'd say that the very fact that players switch to a defensive posture is a good thing and a sign that players are willing to sacrifice personal glory and the need to run around like fools in order to ensure a win for their team. It's typically up to the team with the ticket deficit to attack in order to secure the win, but at times the tickets are close enough to make it feasible to just hold tight and wait for the other team to do something stupid. My personal strategy would be one of a war of attrition. Let the team with the ticket lead get dug in and feel comfortable, meanwhile you sneak in to get a few kills, then back away and return later from a different direction. Kill enough and you can regain the lead. Lose too many of your own and you simple ensure the loss. The point is that no matter what you do with the tickets, there will inevitably come a point where a team will decide that they are better off digging in and letting the enemy come to them. If neither team attacks, you get a stalemate and the game takes forever. Is that the fault of the game? No. Is it the fault of the teams for wanting to preserve as many of their tickets as possible? No. It's simply sound tactical thinking. The game plays out by brute force, or by varied strategies. Personally, I prefer a strategic game to one where everyone is just constantly attacking something. All in all, this whole discussion just makes me very, very happy that ArmA exists.
