Re: Life outside PR

I have come to the conclusion that deer are very depressed animals. Something has caused them all to hate their lives (did you not see the symbolism in Bambi). Thus they are all suicidal and exploit our drivers and cars to commit suicide.

I'm just kidding but it really does seem that way sometimes....

Re: Life outside PR

Well outside PR i work as a labourer on building sites, am forced to take my aging dog for every longer walks(its not that i mind doing it, its almost dead when we get back) and practice under age drinking with my mates, where I live in the UK theres that much violence on the streets (about 20mins from Moss Side) that the landlords and even police prefer us to be drinking inside than on the street......
Anyway what is the differene between civi and military rifles? cos ive only shot military rifles

Cry Wolf

And lol/ about the deer, we have 1 in the area i live and thats loads for the UK

Re: Life outside PR

I only know about the laws in the state I live in.
For me, a civilian rifle must be a semi-automatic weapon. It cannot have a clip capable of holding more than 20 rounds. And... that's about it, actually.
Oh yeah, and 'assault rifles' have a waiting period (like the M4)... which is odd, as the AR-15, which is the M16's "civilian counterpart", doesn't.

Yeah, as far as guns go in the US, the ownership laws vary from state to state since the Brady Bill expired a few years ago. Some states allow the ownership of assault rifles, some dont. The kicker is that most states specifically prohibit any weapons that can be fired fully automatic as sold. A lot of people have a tendency to buy weapons like AK-47's and then go to gun shows and buy the parts necessary to convert them to fully automatic weapons, thus making them illegal to own. They just dont get caught.

Re: Life outside PR

O right, over here the only way you can own a gun is if it is kept at a club in a special cabinet, its stupid really cos there are loads of guns about anyway. I was even approached on the street of my local city and offered a pistol......
but thats a story for another day. It wasnt like that until about 15 years ago, when my uncle had to sell 15 guns(he was a collector)

Re: Life outside PR

Man, that kinda sucks. I enjoy having a gun for protection at home, especially after having my brother's car broken into twice in the last two months. In the U.S. there are still states where you can open carry legally (this meaning that you can walk down the street with a gun on your hip in plain sight. if you have it under your shirt or something, you have to have a concealed weapons permit), like Colorado! You never see anyone doing it, of course, but you could if you wanted to. Certainly made my life easier when i was working as a rent-a-cop in college.

Re: Life outside PR

britains gun laws are strict on one hand that its almost imposible to be able to legal carry a gun around, unless tour special forces in civ clothes, or part of the inteligence service.
even cops have to have permits to carry guns.
then if you want it on the illegal side then it pretty easy, but then you end up blowing your fingers after u fire a dodgy bullet out of a converted replica gun

Re: Life outside PR

That's why I am happy to live in a "Free" state so to speak...

I can open carry whenever I want, I can own supressors, SBR's, SBS's and machine guns

Ferris I too enjoy the protection of a firearm(s) at home

Re: Life outside PR

well I come from little old Denmark where you can only have hunting rifles, and im perfectly happy with that. I wouldnt want anyone to be abel to own a firearm I think thats best left for the army and police.

I dont know how the situation is in the states but it seems rather pafetic (dont know if thats corect). And dont flame me too much for saying that but it really does, I have always thought that was the dumpest law (or lack of) in the US, Why do they want ciilians to have firearms, I just dont get the logic...

I have to agree with you that the gun owning laws in the States are too leanient. Take, for example, all the school shootings. And when you try to get people to support making the laws stricter, they always quote the second amendment. Oh well...

Re: Life outside PR

Ive just checked, i can get a gun in the UK, IF its kept in a heated safe thats got rediculous saftey precautions which would take hours to get through for the owner, and its got to be in a locked room. It also cant be used in self defence. So the law lets you have one technically but its almost impossible in practice and then of no use since most types of hunting got banned last year and the only wilderness places are in Scotland in the 'Far North'
I also live in a 'free' country the only laws are what i cant do

Re: Life outside PR

I am glad most of you aren't able to vote yet!

How can you let your emotions dictate what others can or cannot do? This just puzzles me...

So tell me Google and Katanama, what process does one have to through to buy a gun in the states?

Oh wait ,you don't know that, yet you are saying "It's to easy to get a gun, look at the shootings blah blah blah". People who enjoy killing will do it with whatever tool is best suited to the job. Look at England, the gun laws are so strict yet violence has risen since their bans. People just use knives now....

Why should civilians own guns you say?!

There would be no USA without civilian gun ownership, we would be some colony of England.

Why should we have fast cars, food, water, fun, houses, computers, medications, theme parks, schooling, clothing, or whatever? Because we can, and should have all of the above! Same thing goes with guns.

Again, once you grow older and are able to touch one without surpervision then you come and participate in firearm discussions...

Thank you,

Turkish
