Real simple to solve that problem. Build a bunker in resupply range of the TOW at citadel. Works like a charm.

Terminology-wise, HAT generally refers to the infantry-portable weapon, whereas TOW designated a mounted weapon - either stationary on a tripod (at the Citadel) or mounted on a jeep or truck. Other than that, they're all basically the same weapon.
Anyways, I always thought it great fun to snipe Citadel TOW gunners from the woods with the rifleman kit. I don't feel there's a problem with the HAT.

If I can get a sniper kit on Seven Gates the order of business is usually as follows:-
TOW gunner gets a third eye Anyone building at river fort or around gets a third eye ie SL's or Commander Gunner at river fort gets it next Counter sniper on opfor snipers at Citadel Start plinking at citadel infantry to cover friendlies crossing the open ground Just make sure you can get a steady stream of ammo as you'll get a ton of targets. The distances on this map arent that great and snipers actually fulfill a modern marksman role rather than the traditional one shot and move m.o. If you're having a good day you can rack up plenty of kills whilst genuinely helping your team's advance. Is there anything more fun than seeing an anti tank guy, who thinks he's got a clean shot on your buddies, do a back flip just before he fires because you've given him head air conditioning? Its a moral victory lol!

Look at it this way, perhaps now the British snipers have a valid assignment to carry out rather than forcing the sniper-role into a less than good enviroment? Two, heck one, decent sniper can make life quite miserable for any Chinese TOW-gunners up at the walls. And perhaps after getting shot in the head for a couple of times, they will find something more fun to do.

I havent liked it so much. They did do some fixing with it but it's still not good enough. There's not much cover when moving across the river. I've seen Brits win it like once with cap out. Rest of the times it's ticket win for the Chinese when Brits finally get to the fort.

I kind of enjoyed the 7 Gates 16 player map still. Yes it was a shoot fest grenade fest but it was rather exciting I thought.

I like this map a lot. Although with the current version it has an advantage to the Chinese. Many times the Brits just don't employ a different strat to overcome them. You can no longer count on just zerging ahead and being guarantied of capping River Fort.
For the Brits there is significant time pressure and resullting ticket loss in the effort to dislodge an entrenched Chinese team at River Fort with bunkers. Still it is imperetive to make some effort to counter the Chinese's ability to reenforce troops at the riverfort from assets on the Eastern side of the river. Those being firebases along the road, Rps and HAT teams. Hat teams are usually in a few specific places. Ether in the woods by the Tow east across from River Fort or along the lower western wall of the Citadel. Both easily anticipated by snipers moving up into the battle. It is a very smart move for the Brit team to initially move a RP or even firebase across the river at the Northern undefended edge. They should have the mission to sneak quietly behind the Chinese and destroy his firebases East of River Fort. Often I can even destroy the Bunker at River fort by attacking it from the East even before the Brit main force can get within 300 meters of the Fort. If the HAT guys are then shooting from the Citadel before the River Fort falls it is not hard at all to get into the Citadel to take them out and keep them occupied with you for 10 minutes till they can call for reinforcements and keep you from scaling the walls. |
