Re: PR .8 techincal problems thread
so...i seem to have mic problems again. it worked no problems...then map change, and it didn't work. i tried all the in-game solutions, and it didn't make a difference. i alt-tabbed out and could hear my mic thru the speakers, so its plugged in and working. when i quit the game and went to audito settings, it wouldn't let me make any changes, or run the mic test. i started up vanilla, and it lets me make changes, but it didnt work with the mic test. neither would let me check the mic boost box.
am i the only one with this problem?

Re: PR .8 techincal problems thread
In bf2 you can mute people on the manage tab of the spawn screen. Make sure your own name is not muted
Not all sound cards will do the mic boost thing. Windows will and make sure everything is maxed out and unmuted in all of the sound device boxes, then go back and check it again

Mic Delay
When I first join the server after starting battlefield for the first time after switching on my PC, VOIP takes about 4/5 minutes to begin working. I cant hear anyone, they cannot hear me and team and squad chat does not seem to get through to anyone else. TG is the only server for that to happen on though.
Anyone else have some or all of the symptoms ?

Are you behind a router? Maybe your router is blocking the BF2 VOIP ports. I believe TG uses the default VOIP ports but not all servers do.
Do you have Windows Firewall on? might do the same as above...

Just put textures on medium and you should be fine, everything else can be on high.

Project Reality Mod .856 Crash/fix center
I am hoping to have this thread as a open PR game crash response center. I have been having this problem where my game crashes to desktop with no errors after or during a map change. Its random and happens after 1 or 2 maps. I'm sure many of you might have the same problem and I'm wondering if anyone who knows any fixes or would launch and investigation to post their results on this thread. It happens in .8 but its really worse now. back then it crashed after 10 rounds or when loading insurgency but now for me its pretty much every map.
Things they say to do:
- Update Drivers
- Uninstall BF2 and or PR related files and reinstall
- Run Memory Diagnostics
- Check to see if resolution conflicts with game (in-game res)
- Disabling background applications
- Not running TS or Xfire... etc
- ?? Pray lol?
If anyone has a response to this, speak your logic!

Re: PR .8 techincal problems thread
Tell us what operating system and video settings you 're running. I used to have the same problem with Vista 64 SP1 and I fixed it by turning textures down to medium. It 's a known issue with Vista, every other setting can be on high.

there is now a link in the forums to a new bf2.exe that works alongside windows VISTA to allow your computer to use more than 2 gigs of ram. it has helped many folks with this error, suggest you look at it.

Mine is even worse... I crash within one to five minutes ingame .
The game worked fine this weekend, don't know what happened.
Things I tried:
- deleted cache folder under My Docs
- replaced bf2.exe with the one from the PR site which is supposed to support more than 2GB RAM
Man this sucks, I didn't change anything since last weekend, odd...
Running Vista 64 with 4GB RAM and an 8800GT... will check for newer Nvidia drivers right now but I doubt that will be the cause.

Re: PR .8 techincal problems thread
welcome to the solution:
http://realitymodfiles.com/ancient/BF2MemoryPatch.zip
download that, replace your BF2.exe (make a backup just in case).
And then the problem should be fixed (worked for me)
