Don't forget the Manual install of Punkbuster too. It is a suggested option by the punkbuster folks in the event other previously tried options do not work. The Manual install is to be used for example in the event one has a firewall of a certain type, whatever that type is, that doesn't allow one to use pvscv.exe like it is suppose to work. Go here to get the manual method ...

http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php...upport-bf2.php

Click on the software updates Download link .. read all the jardon and do this .. Doing the maual is what worked for me.... my firewall sometimes does not even let me in my front door when I come home for work

I have Comcast and I have 0 connection problems and 0% packet loss. Just I have EADM, and for w/e reason EA failed to make it so BF2 is recognized as being used via EADM and forces a shut down of the game.

Weird occurance please help.

Ok so I have some what of an issue. Yesterday I was playing PR with no problem, I turned it off for a few hours and when I went to get back on in the evening something happened. I would start PR, the logo would come up, the screen would go black and then I would get dropped to desktop, this happened everytime. I then tried to load bf2 and the same thing. So I uninstalled & driver sweeped my vid drivers loaded new one, still nothing, checked audio, then ended up uninstalling PR & BF2, reinstalled bf2 w/ patch and then PR. Now they both work, but instead of having the regular BF2 & PR desktop icons I have shortcut icon piece of paper thing with a mini desktop pic in it, like what you get when you uninstall a program but the icon still remains.

Re: PR Technical Problems Thread

I have an issue with Mumble, sometimes it works when I start the game sometimes it doesn't. (And yes'm, I do leave enough time for it to link to the server, thought when you start Mumble it does say "Linking to Battlefield 2" or something or other)

However only sometimes will it work for me, which is a pain in the a-hole as it is more enjoyable playing with Mumble; than without. - Especially when loads of people have Mumble running.

So what's the deal? I do try and re-start Mumble, if it doesn't initially work, to no avail.

Are Mumble, BF2, and Pr.exe all set to "run as administrator"?

I usually right click on the programs and hit "Run as administrator" and from there it boots up the BF2/Mumble.

I do have "User Account Control" (UAC) enabled, so I may disable that to see if there is anything to that effect which will ensure my Mumble works fine while playing PR.

You don't need to right click every time. Just right click, go to properties, and check the "run as administrator" box on one of the tabs. It will then run as administrator just by double clicking.

Disabling User Account Control (UAC) seems to have worked, as can be seen/said from last nights round on Al Basrah/Kashan and Fools Road! (Good games) Phew glad it is working now.

Re: PR Technical Problems Thread

K, so I've been wrestling with both TS and Mumble for a while now. The problem /appears/ to be that neither is seeing my keypresses while I'm in game, because I can speak fine on both while I'm tabbed out, but as soon as I tab back in nobody can hear anything I say. Any ideas for fixes?

Can you take a screenshot of it and post it here? If it 's artifacts, your video card might be overheating or it might even be broken.

Question Crash when loading some maps

Hi when I load the battle for quinlin I crash, witch I find very annoying, and I think it has something to do with the fact that I have Vista 64 bit, but I would like to know if there is any posibillity to fix this problem.

BTW it isent only battle for quinlin there is some other maps to....cant remember the names but anyways

Re: Crash when loading some maps

Turn your shaders to medium, had the exact same problem and it worked for me.

Re: Crash when loading some maps

It's probably Quinling, Qwai, and a couple other maps that have lotsa trees to load. You shouldn't have to turn too many settings down below high for it to stop dying because you're taking up just to much system resources - just one should work fine.
