Re: Logistics squad?
Sorry to disagree, but I think they take too much freedom away from the SL and cause un-necessary coordination issues on the field. I would much rather have the asset myself and use it where necessary based on my requirements in combat. Works great with air assets, but I like the ground assets left to the SLs.

I do that, but I let the squad leader drive while I repair the truck. Then I drive the truck back for supplies, so it doesn't get wasted.

Re: Logistics squad?
I do like the Helo SUPPORT / Logistic / Linquistic Support Squads alot.. Say if your Truck Blows (or say a small Mountain causes it to tip and you can only get one crate out before the thing blows..killing your only medic.. ehem.. I digress).. I like to be able to call in a coupld of crates and they get delivered by FedEx... Sweet!

Agreed. It's nice to take a break from being in a combat squad and just help out. I especially get fried SL'ing and it's nice to have a round where you just drive and shovel.

Re: Logistics squad?
How about forming a TG in house logistics core or something? To compliment our in house combat squads.

Re: Logistics squad?
I agree i think they are fantastic, it would be great if apc's form part of these types of squads as those assets are really for that purpose also.

Re: Logistics squad?
Fish, the only thing i see that you might not like, is that Logistics trucks only have 2 seats (as stated by dbzao on the first page of the PR Dev Journal Thread).
I think a new logistics squad will probably be a combination of APCs/Logistics trucks/Trans Helo's to ferry forward supplys and troops. The APC team will just have to know when to stay to help support the infantry if an IFV is not in the area. Logistics trucks will need to know when to go to an armor squad to help repair them, and the Trans Pilots need to know when to get in and drop troops/crates.
Also, engineers are getting removed to a specialized kit with the explosives from the spec ops. Armor is pretty much going to rely on the repair crates from Logistics Tricks.

Re: Logistics squad?
Transport trucks will still be available on certain maps. That second seat is good enough for transporting a single blue guy when you are on the way with goods (very common situation).
I have no problem with APCs taking over the transportation role. Very rarely have I been requested by a SL to bring a truck for transportation.
That the engineers have been stripped of their repair ability is a good change as it always seemed a bit like a waste to have an engineer in an armour squad. Although I value their ears much higher than their wrench. The only thing I fear with the new changes is the armour squads keeping the supply trucks near them at all times not willing to take the risk of it being blown up when bringing crates to the infantry.
I think dedicated logistics squads can really shine with 0.85, making sure that the armour gets their repair crates, infantry supply and perhaps indeed even using an APC to be able to do protected convoy runs and transporting troops.

Re: Logistics squad?
I'm going to love the logistics in 0.85.
Yesterday on Muttrah, Nardini sent me back to base a few times to refill the crates and bring them back for ammo. At one point we made another FB (one was at mosque) at docks on one of those long docking areas. Unfortunately, it got raped by the Cobra!

Re: Logistics squad?
I am really concerned about the fact that APC's are now the primary transport vehicle. I realize that this is | TG| and it probably won't affect us as much but you know, there is always that one or maybe two if we're lucky blue guy/lonewolf/smacktard/WHATEVER you call them that will one-man it ore if theres two, two-man it but yet, still leave that one squad stranded at main. I know that it's Project REALITY but in reality we can't have exact reality because of smacktards. I believe that when .85 comes out, Tactical Gamer needs to put in a new rule that no longer allows one-manning of any armored vehicle.
